............… and they wont be appearing at a press conference anytime soon. We can't have people speaking the truth that isn't what this present government does.

The BBC is reporting that the epidemic is likely to remain at a constant level until September. according to Dr Neil Ferguson. I don't think this is too surprising given the behaviour of plenty of irresponsible people. I cannot see how the situation will improve without a vaccine. There were report over the weekend of people flocking to Dorset and also train carriages with only standing room only in the NW as families headed towards Blackpool. More locally, I see that dispersal orders have been issued for Compton Lock just north of where I live due to the volume of people swimming in the navigation. It was noticeable that there would be an issue there from the number of people out there when I went birdwatching. I turned around and went back when I saw what was up ahead.

The annoying thing for me is that people are probably correct thinking that they have a low probability of catching this illness and are happy to take the risk during their leisure time even though they might be abiding by the measures during their work time. What they do not appreciative if that they will be acting as vectors so that other people who are vulnerable will become ill as a result. It is all extremely selfish.

Given the lack of discipline here in the Netherlands, in England and Indonesia and also being in a vulnerable group we can't begin to plan any travel outside Holland. Transport in particular, flights, trains and buses all fraught with dangerous situations. Taking to the waterways an idea we're considering but need to feel safe and avoid busy areas.

The very lovely Mrs Godders:emoticon-0115-inlov and I are staying indoors in quiet isolation for the duration. We have plenty of books to read and when I am really bored I can always come on here and annoy someone.

Well I’m getting paid in dollars now, so in the true spirit of the government, let’s hope the economy and the £ tanks so I get a pay rise.

    Godders

I have been working from home but because there is nothing on television to watch, I have been staggered at how many books I have read since March. So far I have read 2 Phillip Kerr "Bernie Gunther" detective novels, a biography of Simon De Monfort, a history of the Hambledon Club, Maya's autobiography, a book about Julius Caesar's invasion of Britain and am now midway through a book about religion in Roman Britain. Next up in a Haynes guide to the Sopwith Camel. I am an avid reader yet because the weather has been so good the last few days and I hate being indoors, I just sit out in the garden and read a book.

I think you might have picked the one currency in the world that is currently likely to free fall as fast as the £, but good luck.

Yep, that is what I am worried about - I am basing my annual salary on about $1.25:£1 on average, but would love the £ to drop to 1:1 :)

If we get back to the old days of 1.4-1.6 I have taken a huge paycut......

Nah I think he's safe... it's the world's reserve currency, and the orange man would start world war 3 before he let the dollar deflate

To think we are instigating the quarantine of tourists arriving at airports, whilst trying to organise “air bridge” deals allowing Brits to travel abroad, when the figures are like this, beggars belief.

And how many millions have arrived with no checks since this whole thing started? :emoticon-0121-angry
Seems to me that it’s Spaffer and Cummings’ plan to try and use it as a bargaining tool with the EU over Brexit :emoticon-0121-angry:emoticon-0121-angry

Did you enjoy Maya’s book? I loved the impression it gave me of the man.

Good news. Hopefully there's exceptions for those with breathing difficulties though.
