This is no different to what they have been saying all along. This could also be posturing to force the UK government into subsidies. There will still be a huge UK market with the possibility of trading tariff free with non EU countries. Let us see what happens when we all know the outcome. When the Brexit referendum was announced we had interested commercial groups predicting massive unemployment, this proved to be totally wrong. We also had predictions of large scale relocations from the City of London, this has also been proved false. The UK government needs to ensure we leave the EU completely at the end of the year, hopefully the terms will be known fairly soon to give companies a little time for final adjustments to their business models.
According to the Daily Torygraph BoJo plans to "take back control of the coronavirus crisis". Three things immediately spring to mind: 1. Why now? He's supposed to be the prime minister and should have had control since January. 2. This is his way of absolving himself of any responsibility for the utter shambles that has been the UK government's handling of the crisis to date. A sort of "It was someone else's fault but I'm here to save you all now" type of statement. 3. If we think we've had a rough ride so far, we ain't seen nothing yet.
My vote is for 2) He supposedly has been in charge throughout apart from a few days in Hospital... Ths Govt under his 'leadership' has become a master of obfuscation....
Your politics is really the play ground. I can just picture billy no mates at school... running to and hanging round teacher after making jibes at others....
Given that we have the proven technology to do it remotely, and we are all at high risk of death from Covid.. .It seems like pure idiocy... reminds me of the cold showers and dawn winter cross -country run mentality of certain of our elite..
Not coronavirus related - but I couldn't find any other doom & gloom thread to post this on. "30 days and we have turned our backs on the European Union, flipped over and offered ourselves up to Trump’s America. 30 days and our rights as a sovereign nation are determined by American corporations, tech giants and their billionaires." I'm beginning to wish I hadn't read it... https://truepublica.org.uk/united-k...ing-the-other-way-30-days-to-the-next-crisis/
I see that the N.Ireland Assembly has voted to extend the transition period with the EU as there is not a cat in hells chance of all the infrastructure and systems being in place by the beginning of next year. They have stated that thier economy would collapse totally if that were to happen after the coronavirus has already had a serious effect on them.
The simple answer that defies reality. It is not up to them. Ireland that also has to vote have more than enough to deal with at present.
To quote Ian Blackford - "We can work from home, we should work from home, it's the right thing to do. The Tories reckless plans to end hybrid parliamentary arrangements puts people at risk and discriminates against others. Certain Tories attitudes in todays debate tell you that they simply don't care." But I guess we all knew that. They don't care because they know that, even if all MPs turn up, they have the majority to push through whatever they want to push through. If the far-flung MPs don't turn up, they don't get to scrutinise or vote - making it all the easier for the Tories. On a brighter note for some - the SNP June Conference which had been cancelled due to the virus looks like going ahead as a virtual conference, with members being asked to vote online on a certain issue. Read into that what you will.
To be more precise, they have passed a motion to call for an extension. I'd imagine that BoJo would simply rub their noses in it by either refusing or not even listening. Which would surely make even the DUP realise that their future lies outside of the UK?
and given what is happening in the US currently.. an eye opener: https://www.theguardian.com/comment...ad-emperor-stage-and-its-terrifying-to-behold
The United Kingdom is an alliance of four countries that all have their own degree of sovereignty. They will not always agree because what is in the interst of one may not always be in the interest of the other three. This should mean that compromise is sought, with one thing traded off against another, just as happens in the EU. Of course if the largest country tries to impose it's will all of the time, then that is truly bullying. This cannot happen in the same way when you have large countries of similar size and economic power. There will always be a case of trying to do what is best for your own people, but it can be very damaging not to support smaller parts of a kingdom or union.
Head of NISSAN - the U.K. plant will not be sustainable in the event of a no deal Brexit Some deluded Brexiter - they’re lying. Just what is it going to take for you to accept reality? You’re like a passenger on the Titanic denying there was an iceberg. Hilarious.
Another hit and run jibe one liner.... Remember folks this poster is only interested in provoking..... alone in his room probably
What is fact is they have closed the European plant. The UK plant remains open and is one of the most productive plants in the world. I can understand multinational companies wanting trading conditions to best suit their operations. If I was the boss of Nissan I would also try to influence the government whether the long term plan was to leave the Uk or not. The UK government's correct responsibility is to honour the democratic Brexit referendum. What we do know is the UK is a great place to invest in, which is why there was full employment before cover-19.
As a EU supporter I sympathise with you as you must have a strange view on democracy. NI have every right to vote to leave the rest of the UK if they felt it was in their best interest. Like Scotland and Wales it does rely on substantial subsidies from England so financially they may not have the courage to leave.
The problem with people like you is there will be nothing left of the UK if you carry on as you do and the UKs only friend will be the red head across the ocean... Unity is strength.... particulary in times of crisis
There are many regions of England which were reliant on substantial subsidies from the EU, but these were amongst the most solid Brexit voting regions. I surmise that they weren't informed where their goodies came from.
