45 years ago today, I was at the Parc des Princes in Paris to see Leeds United take on Bayern Munich in the European Cup Final. Peter Lorimer scored a fantastic goal to put us in the lead as I immediately glanced at the linesmen to check no offside flag had been raised. Both the referee and linesman had both pointed to the centre spot as we celebrated. With the Bayern Munch players heading back to the centre too, suddenly Franz Beckenbauer spoke to the referee. Whatever was said the referee changed his decision of awarding us a goal. To this day that is still a travesty of justice and I will never forgive and never forget being cheated out of our rightful trophy. I don't regret being there to witness it all personally because up until that "goal" the day had been perfect. We will always be Champions of Europe!
