The ONS numbers would be "really interesting" if they were published in cause of death numbers. I know all the talk is covid but the interesting stuff for me would be how many had strokes and heart attacks but didnt want go to hospital. 62,000 above average since the start of March and we know they are not all covid so what else has been spiking. They are probably available somewhere but I guess the figures get skewed by more than one cause????
I have heard rumours that some people who have tested positive for COVID are testing negative for antibodies. The reason why is yet unknown but either the tests are giving false readings or antibodies aren’t being produced.
Hope he's called in to Track and Trace - a good 600 people for them to check on, good job they've all got public profiles so should be easier to trace
Brandon Lewis, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (of course you knew that...), lying on the radio this morning. He described Test and Trace as ‘world beating’ drawing a laugh from whoever was interviewing him. They must know that they are being widely mocked on this and many other issues. I can only assume that the Tory boys have got some kind of bet on as to who can use the phrase ‘world beating’ and keep a straight face. He also dropped a strong hint that the quarantine for people entering the country will be dropped after three weeks, after asserting that the policy is science based because a scientist was in the room when the politicians decided to do it. And that Alok Sharma sweating like a melting iceberg in the Commons was an example of the wisdom of making MPs attend the commons as if technology enabling them to work from home didn’t exist. These people are idiots, but they are pretty sure that we are bigger idiots.
On a flip side, making the MP's attend Parliament, and then to have one show signs of an illness, might show the idiots that went to the beaches and left their rubbish behind, that the virus (a virus) is still around in the UK. Additionally, I have just caught the end of a radio 5 live interview where the Chinese government now believe that Rhino horn cures the virus. There are some absolutely stupid idiots in senior places.... The Rhino horn needs to stay on the Rhino
Brandon Lewis, Secretary of State for Northern Ireland (of course I knew that... NOT), got asked in the same interview...if a family from Spain could come and go on holiday to the lake district and holiday there....whilst a similar family from UK could not he ummed and arrrred and tried so hard to say it was different, but he again fell flat on his face. Anyone see Dispatches on Channel 4 last night. I knew most of it already, but seeing the pictures on a time line of Boris' superman speech about taking advantage of the pandemic...and shaking hands with everyone at the hospital....and the words of the modellers who could not believe what we were doing. Finally the Spanish story of how the Madrid footy fans could not see their team in their own country but could travel 400 miles to see them here!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And the damning disclosure that Macron phoned Boris to tell him his plans over the response were dumb. I cannot believe some of the things...I was always giving them leeway as it was such abig and novel pandemic...but this was not mistakes...it was arrogance...it could not happen here
Apparently the 14-day quarantine for people coming into the country is supported by 60% of the country. Why? It only makes sense if we have low levels of infection compared to the rest of the world, as we did back in February.
Have you tried explaining osmosis to the average voter? I have just heard that Warwickshire is a Test and Trace Pilot local authority! Hooray for me! Although why are there pilot areas when the world beating system was up and running, fully operational, working brilliantly, from Thursday last week? Mysterious!
Like Isle of Wight is the pilot for the app....which we do not seem to be mentioning now There are a lot we are not mentioning now... The army of volunteers, anyone getting tasks? The nightingale hospitals Dyson's ventilators Vaccine by the end of July Testing 100,000 a DAY
Add to that list: Creating capacity for testing 200,000 per day; Turning round tests in 24 hours; Calling all contacts of the thousands still reporting symptoms
Bloody hell you lot don't give it a rest do you? Still moaning about everything the government does. They should rename this thread
I notice that the two weeks we were behind the other large Western European countries now looks more like a month with our death rate dropping so slowly. I think we're going to be in the **** for a long time.
