    Newmarket 4.45 Tin Hat

Has run well at this track last year on only visit when 3rd. On a good mark and stable among the places at Yarmouth yesterday. Worth a small each way bet.

If the market is an indication of confidence, then Happy Romance at Newmarket 1.15 for the Hannon yard should be winning first time up.

    Morning all.

Newmarket card is interesting today but won’t be punting there when several yards are likely to have some of their best 2yos out in the same races prepping for a quick turnaround at Royal Ascot.

For those interested TACTICAL was put up by Oisin Murphy as his 2yo to follow in a twitter clip. He spoke very highly of him.

One bet at Newcastle today MALOTRU in the 3.55 at Newcastle. Has already proved he has trained on from 2/3 with a nice performance in a listed race at Lingfield over 7f. The drop back to 6f shouldn’t be an issue and I expect him to have too much for this field today. A’Ali was a high class 2yo but I would worry that he may not make the step forward from 2-3. Good luck all

GINGER JAM Newmarket 5.20 11/2. PP are four places so I can't see it not being placed and has a good shout to win. Fallon takes off a valuable 3lbs. Word is connections are confident.

Though I'm a Tactical supporter, I have a lot of respect for Vedute. Worth an each-way interest.

The 3.55 is interesting Malotru is a really big positive on sire statistics, his sire is 18% at the course (15 from 81) with a big return on investment. HOWEVER, if you look at it over the sprint trips it is just 1 win from 17 and a big loss.

Over the sprint trips it is Ventura Rebel who is best on sire statistics with 11 wins from 74 and a strike rate of 15%.

Three bets in the race for me

Back Malotru at close to 3.0 (with a lay at 2.0 something)
Back Troubador at close to 20.0 (with a lay at 14 or so)
Back Ventura Dragon in play at close to 10.0

    Rationale -
Malotru travels very well in his races, in the Mill Reef he traded just over even money!
Troubador is a front runner who is game, he should trade shorter
Ventura Dragon was outpaced last time out and might get a bit further back than people might like. I think he will finish late and fast.

The other one I noted in my look through Newcastle was the course form of Nathaniel as a sire. He has a 25% strike rate and a 52% rate for win/place. His runner in the 5:40 therefore is one to be with, especially given the form is already in the book too.

Nataleena is the horse in question.
