Premier League to allow five substitutions on June 17 restart
Shareholders also approve for clubs to increase maximum number of substitute players on the bench from seven to nine for rest of 2019/20 season

<yikes> - are they expecting players to keel over with the virus in numbers during the games?

Thinking about them keeping all those subs, managers, physios etc two metres apart, they will need seats all the way down a side of the ground.

On the issue of five subs - the Leicester Mercury have an odd headline on the story.

"Leicester City receive huge boost ahead of Watford clash"

It's almost as if they think the new rule only applies to them...:)

Will they have rules in place stopping teams from potentially making 3/4 subs late on to waste time ?

Could get a bit silly if not !

Typically, I can't find the article again - but remember reading something about the timing of substitutions and the number that can be made at the same time, something that covered that scenario.
Or maybe I just dreamt it. :(

Yes - I have heard that since.

    Seem this quote:

"You're only allowed to make three substitution stoppages during normal time, but you can bring on more than one at a stoppage. So for example you could make 2 subs on 60 minutes, 1 on 70 minutes, 2 on 80 minutes"

Mind you could still make 2/3 after 85 minutes I presume at the same time.

That would still take a bit out of the game.

Guess you'd trust the ref to add that time on.

So - to protect a 1-0 lead, bring on three defenders in the 89th minute, then two more in the 91st minute.

Mind you, we'd probably mess that up too...
