Make that 4 NOs And to be really honest Ellers I really was willing to give them alot of leeway. I realised it was going to be difficult and there was going to be a lot of mistakes from any government of any hue, as we have not seen anything like this for 100 years....but.... They have lied and lied and lied...and never ever admitted they were wrong. They have never acted proactively...always retroactively and weeks too late They have never taken it seriously..they still don't. So many other countries have got on top of it Greece, South Korea for example Even the countries that were hit first are coming out of it better e.g Germany.. The only countries that are doing worse are counties that took the denial approach like USA and Brazil.
I’m on the fence. Still hopeful Boris will personally find a way to bring people back to life and if you don’t believe he can do that you’re just anti-government.
No. In crisis management, common sense should prevail. Sadly this has eluded our Government and continues to do so. The politicians love the phrase "lessons learnt" except we haven't learnt how to react from other countries ahead of us e.g. Spain, Italy, South Korea. Even Iran has done a better job of handling the virus and they had a number of people gathering and passing the virus on in huge swathes.
No. We've gone half arsed at this - contemplated a herd immunity on a virus when it wasn't even confirmed that getting it meant immunity. At that time the only advice to the vulnerable was for old people not to go on cruises and wash their hands. This was also the point where Italian doctors were pleading with us to lockdown. We then flop into a medium to hard lockdown. Too late. We then ease it while the numbers are still high and declare the broad timeline of when further easing will be which acts as a green light to assume that its an inevitability. Judging by all the kids playing together and families hugging in reunion that we've seen in Ipswich, I think a second wave is inevitable and ours comes from a much worse place than any other country's would (except USA, Brazil and maybe Russia) because our base line infections are still too high. I'd love to be wrong on this. With a two week headstart compared to our neighbours, we've done worse, lost so many lives and our economy will suffer more because we seemed destined to draw this out longer. The fudge, fluff, self-preservation and deception that we've been fed by those in power would be bad enough but the nerve to declare pride in how we've tackled this and assertions of success at any of this disaster is outrageous. So, to reiterate, no I don't think the government has instilled me with pride in our collective performance.
It’s a No from me. It’s all about doing the right thing timely. We have done neither, and it has cost many many lives unfortunately.

From Ireland's point of view - our caretaker government have only handled it ok. Care home deaths the second highest in the world at 62 per cent of all infections. Apparently, only Canada has a higher rate of infection for care homes at 82 per cent. Infection rates higher than UK and above European average but death rates much lower than UK . As an outsider looking at the UK situation, the inexperience of Johnston and his team and their inability to take it serious from the start have contributed to the huge death rate. Cummings clearly should have been sacked. They finally seem to be getting a grip on things and hopefully your figures over there will continue improving. Did i see something online to say the UK with 68m residents had more new deaths, 359, in one day than the 440m residents of the EU, 314, in the last day or two? If those figures are true, I wonder where this relative success is that Boris spoke about the day he returned to work. Short answer to the question, Irish government D grade for the high infection rate. UK government - F grade for the high death rate. That's a NO from me then.
They claim this is their "culture" to celebrate a battle by defeating King James the first of England and to goad as many Catholics as possible as they burn the flag of a friendly neighbouring country. That's not being very LOYAL. Their culture is stuck in 1690 i'm afraid.
Bit late to this one but as with airports, it’s odd that our science only suggests face masks are necessary from mid-June, again months later than just about everywhere else. Only a month or so after Khan suggested it too.
Good luck with that Bob, the tub thumpers usually go quiet when asked things like this. I'll go with No, at best the handling has been unprofessional and incompetent. The truth of it i suspect is more sinister though, Boris attempted to put the economy ahead of the nation's health with his herd approach, then had to back track and pretend lockdown was always the plan. Because of this we entered lockdown late, very inefficiently and are easing it too early. The government are totalling ignoring the fact lock down started deteriorating from VE onwards and is virtually non existent for many now. They are clearly ignoring the science and medical advice, though I'd love to know exactly how complicit Vallance and Whitty are now. Infection rate is still high and will rise as will deaths again but will they tell us or start outright lying about the numbers? Also do wear a facemask, no dont wear a facemask, no do, it might help, no it won't, actually it's compulsory now. Total **** show.
Wow 6 No's... that will really turn the population? I am sure there will be panic running through the corridors of power? TBH I have spoken to many of my friends of late and they think the opposite. I wonder how many of you 'no' voted Tory at the election? I will guess... none. Anyway onto something less idiotic... That muppet Mayor Khan really is a useless 2222. He now says he wanted masks to be used in London for months. He never mentioned it (maybe once and I saw the interview). He is in control of the buses and Tubes and could have used his powers to make it compulsory but chose not to. He now says the government acted too slowly to introduce masks and it could have saved lives. Opportunist '@@@@' was the fella who said drivers were safe!
Your tone has changed rather a lot in the last couple of days. Perhaps you realise the government’s efforts haven’t been particularly competent nor successful deep down. Our world-beating track and trace the latest such effort. Is there anything specific that you or your many friends can point to to suggest we should be proud of our government’s efforts?
No offence mate, but both sides are guilty of being stuck in the past. I've seen many a Union flag burned as well. The hatred between both sides is reflected heavily here in the west of Scotland, and bigotry/sectarianism is rife. As long as Orange Walks and Irish Unity marches are allowed to continue, these divisions will not be healed, and stopping the marches this year would be a good start.
Watford you have made it clear from day one (like many others on here) that you don't like the government. This is more about politics and point-scoring than a pandemic. Some of the stuff I have read on this thread is laughable. It's like the 'joke thread' sometimes. If we cut out the anti-government stuff from the 471 pages, we would have about 3! You all skip over the most important information and go straight for the Tory bashing. This is a shame because there is some interesting stuff out there worth debating. Anyway, I need to get my shopping organised and see my friends. I will let you all carry on with the rhetoric.
This doesn’t really make any sense given the government have proved themselves as incapable throughout. Whether I like them for their other policies is irrelevant when it comes to how they’ve handled Covid which anyone without bias could only conclude as appallingly. All the evidence and figures available back this up. None of the evidence or figures back up the continued deference you and your many, many friends afford them. Which means as usual your point is just blatant projection. You know they’ll still be in for four more years if you admit they’ve been ****? You’d look much less ****ing stupid that way.
