Does anyone know what happened to Yéremi Vargas? Who I hear you ask? Exactly. Or what about Hannah Williams. Has anyone heard of her? No, me neither. It’s a tragedy whatever happened to Madeline, but there are lots of other children who go missing and never get the media attention and more importantly the significant resources given to others. The Wiki link below is an interesting read. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Missing_white_woman_syndrome
I am sure the parents feel guilty for leaving the children alone in their accommodation whilst they went out and had a meal and drinks...it will haunt them forever What they did was something we never did with our kids...even in hotels on holiday. Even if they camped out in the back garden when they were about 10 or so, doors and windows were left open and we secretly checked on them often. I doubt that many parents following on from the Mcgann tragedy leave their children home alone. Imho I doubt that they directly harmed their little girl
Of course every normal person wants the girl, or her killer, found. But there's something that's always bothered me about the media coverage. If the parents had been an unmarried couple, on benefits, who'd left their kids in a high rise Benidorm hotel I suspect the headlines would've been significantly different ... ... imo it would've been more along the lines of 'Benefit parents party while babies left alone'. Somehow two doctors 'meeting friends for dinner' is regarded as less negligent ... ... it's not.
Exactly marra, the gutter press would have been like a pack of wild dogs. There's rules for some and rules for others as we've seen over the last couple of weeks.
Something stinks about this case. There were 48 questions that they refused to answer In police inquiries. They should have at least been charged with neglect.
German police who’ve interviewed that suspect reckon she’s dead. Would be nice to get some definite closure on this. https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.bbc.co.uk/news/amp/uk-52916137
So it seems a transient known drug dealer, living in a scruffy camper van and known to the locals wasn't pulled in by the British police ... ... if only they'd been more money and a few more dozen detectives.
If the Portuguese police had been competent in their investigation maybe this wouldn't have taken 13 years. If the German suspect is found to be guilty of her abduction, and probably murder, justice will be seen to be done and hopefully this man will never walk the streets as a free man again.
The sad thing is that, for a few quid, there was a babysitting service ... ... this should never have happened.
I’ve never understood Kate’s declaration on the discovery . “ they’ve taken her “. The words they and taken sound specific . Would a shout of Madeleine ‘s gone , or she’s got out , be more usual ?
The fella who was supposed to have done the earlier check on the McCann children was lying through his teeth. He didn't do that check at all which I'd happily prove if he cared to sue me. By the time the mother went to the unlocked flat the children had been alone for nearly 2 hours. That's shameful tbh.
I can never understand to this day why the McCann's weren't prosecuted for child neglect. There's a lot about this case that has never been properly looked at or explained.
Ironically a 10th floor hotel room would be infinitely safer than an expensive ground floor apartment with doors and windows straight onto the street ... ... although, to be fair, leaving the front door unlocked wouldn't help.
Instead the media claimed that the parents killed their child and tried to cover it up, and harassed them for years, especially the Daily Express. Pretty nasty don't you agree?
As most have said on here, the parents are at fault for leaving the children alone when they went out for a drink and meal, but not many really think that they actually harmed their little girl. The gutter press is just that..eg It was the Liverpool fans that caused the Hillsborough disaster.. Picking on Megan is not because she is black The unemployment are all work shy and should be housed in a poor house Basically the tabloids pander to the worse aspects of some, hoping to sell newspapers, nothing to do with what is likely to be the truth. Just look at the column inches or radio time by some so called reporters having a go at Sunderland As the rags might headline, flogging is too good for them!
I'd agree if I thought that was really the case but I don't think the media actually said the parents had murdered the girl. I believe, and perhaps the media do, that it's a possibility that they're responsible though. They were negligent enough to leave three very young children totally alone. It wouldn't be a great stretch to believe that they'd also given them something to 'help them to sleep'. Whether that went wrong, or whether it enabled someone to quietly carry the girl away, it's serious. If the drugs came from their hospital it could be a sacking/criminal offence and an end to their expensive lifestyle. Perhaps that's why they behaved so weirdly, who knows. Perhaps it's why the two other children didn't wake up when the hue and cry went up, and perhaps it's why the parents didn't allow them to be examined. It's just guesswork on my part, but I'd have to be really sure that my toddler wouldn't wake up in a state, try to find me, open an unlocked door and fall down a flight of concrete steps. No one's convinced me that the parents were responsible ... ... but the parents haven't convinced me that they're not.
Still think if this was me and my daughter I’d be doing time now! As you said, the media lap this up. And as @Evil Jimmy Krankie said, there are hundreds, (probably thousands) of kids who have gone missing since. The press focus on her? there’s a lot in this that doesn’t sit right with me.
For a 'grieving mother' to publish a book in which she talks about the kidnapper 'ripping apart Maddie's perfect little genitals' is very strange. I'd be pleased if the parents had nothing to do with it but I wouldn't want to spend any time with either of them tbh.
