Dearie me, you know the Scottish scene Steely, what do you make of this? Off the top of my head there's the SAHB, Nazareth, Big Country, Primal Scream and even Franz Ferdinand yet we have The Proclaimers proclaimed...<yikes>

Just discussed this with the missus, we both think Primal Scream are a definite for top 3.

Can't agree with much of what is on that list, but I wonder how they have come to their conclusion - is it based on record sales or voted by the readership of the Sunday Times (which would explain why a lot of the bands we would put in the top ten aren't there).

Some of the replies to that tweet say it all - where's Mogwai, Teenage Fanclub, Jesus and Mary Chain, Arab Strap, plus the ones that you posted and many more. It's a very "middle of the road" selection of bands IMO. No problem with The Proclaimers being in the top ten, but it feels a bit contrived to have them at number one.

I've been listening to Bruce Springsteen's American skin (41 shots) live at Tampa on UTube the last few days. Seemed like he could have made this the last week, but in fact he wrote it back in 2000 inspired by the New York plain clothes policemens' shooting death of unarmed Guinean immigrant Amadou Diallo outside his apartment in the Bronx. The 4 of them shot at him with a combined total of 41 shots, and hit him 19 times. I'll try and post the song when I can.
