Seven-Branched Sword The Seven-Branched Sword or shichishitou in Japanese believed were built in 4th century CE. The sword was a gift from the king of Baekje to a ruler from Japan’s Yamato period. It is a 74.9 cm long iron sword with six branch-like protrusions along the central blade. The delicate nature of the sword branches suggest that it was never intended to be used as a weapon, but rather served a ceremonial function.
