Of course this right. I have enjoyed the company of many French people on the ferry as they go for a long weekend in England, and want to know what they should go to see. They are often confused when they see that somewhere like Stonehenge which a short distance away from Newhaven as the crow flies, could possibly take several hours to get there. Of course it works the same way for people from the UK who will have their rights stripped away from them as they seek to broaden their minds. Fine if you are happy with little England and don't want to know about any other country, but there you go. Some like to remain insular.

He made a specific assertion, I asked him to back it up, he couldn’t.

He’s nothing but a bloviating Brexiter with nothing but soundbites and rhetoric to offer, ask for actual details and examples, and like the rest of them, he crumples like a cheap suit.

He’s a complete waste of time. Just wait for his ‘Brexit would have been a roaring success only coronavirus ruined things’ excuse in about a years time. They’re so predictable, hollow and vacuous.

Well I am actually sorry to inform you that I do not conform to your idea of 'Lefty Guardian reading clique member' - this being based on the fact that I live in a small hamlet in the wilds well east of Cologne and would find it difficult to find either the time or the opportunity to be a regular reader of any British newspaper - so sorry to disturb your stereotype. I dare say that there might be some seasonal workers arriving, but in the cramp conditions they live in the first Corona outbreak amongst them will take such a heavy toll that I suggest it will deter others.

It will still be possible for UK citizens to use their passports to visit the EU. It will also be possible for many Brits to permanently move to EU countries of their choice. The UK government is yet to announce its attitude on EU I.D. cards after the end of the year.

You really should look up the meaning of a 'forum'. :emoticon-0100-smile

Differing views are actually the norm.

So 'debate' is not abusing and trying winding up others with divisive and superior remarks....

You perhaps should do something worthwhile and positve every day. If people do things for others it reduces the need to seek to put people down for gratification etc. That is why community service for offenders when used properly can be such a good thing.

It is uncertain what conditions will apply to British people wishing to relocate to the EU after Brexit - this may well depend on what type of Brexit it turns out to be. It looks likely that they will need to apply for residence permits - as for the move being 'permanent' I cannot say. If it's anything like pre Schengen conditions then a permanent residence permit would only be issued after 10 years residence (ie. when applying for the 3rd permit). These were the conditions when I first moved to Germany in 1989.

The only abuse on these threads is coming from you. You should learn that free speech is allowed in the UK, I know you would prefer the forum to be simply an anti Tory forum.

The majority of EU countries are likely to apply equivalence to U.K. residents seeking to relocate i.e. mirroring the conditions we have put in place. Which will exclude the vast majority of Brits who have historically retired to Spain for example, as their pensions won’t meet the the minimum income level and many won’t be able to obtain health insurance due to preexisting conditions.

Many Brexit voters don’t seem to have considered that freedom of movement is a 2 way street and appear surprised at this reality. English exceptionalism at its most ironic.

Many EU countries have schemes for non EU applicants, nothing to do with Brexit. If you satisfy the qualifying criteria, you are in. Mostly it is having a certain amount of money or buying a property in the country to a certain value. In Portugal, a country I quite fancy, the rates, both income and property are quite small to qualify.
