A bit precious - owners do need thick skins but after a while, criticism must really get the abused down and the results might not always be what supporters wanted.
I'm sure that in such circumstances, you would accept all attacks with a smile and behave like a gentleman -
If people were getting abuse they'd probably be annoyed. I'd like to think that Donald will realise that he's brought a lot of it on himself though and that a lot of the criticism he's getting is absolutely warranted. I also think that very, very few would let a club go under because of it, especially because that would see them lose the money that they've put in. If he would walk away from millions of quid just to give two fingers to a set of supporters, it would say a lot about him, and would mark him out as one of the stupidest people on the planet
I know a load of lads who work for GAS, there’s nowt wrong with that it’s a good and appropriate sponsor for the third tier. Believe me they make a LOT of money these businesses.
Good lad is Brad, very successful. Used to live in the same street as his family about 20 year back, was mates with his eldest and he had a lot to do with the huge success of the football team at Hetton Lyons Cricket Club about 10 year back
I was in the same class at school as his sister and knew him and his parents. Canny lad but he is a Mag.
Just looked at the GAS website. see Mark Jones is one of the directors, I went to school with Mark and is a massive Sunderland fan and follows them all over, He must have had something with getting the sponsorship deal done.
Looking like FPP strategy over long term isn’t going to plan, I doubt they thought Donald would destroy the club top to bottom in a year but he has. I don’t know if they will be wanting in on a shell of a once great football club but if they are interested that’s what they are gonna get. The longer this goes on without an ounce of communication from them the more I’m sliding towards it being over. they may end up getting us for next to nowt but the money saved is going to be needed in restoring it to a half decent operating club. I have zero faith in getting promoted next season so to an extent the can is just being kicked down the road.
Talking of fan ownership, I don't know if you've all seen this: https://www.readytogo.net/smb/threa...ng-to-a-supporters-trust-a-good-idea.1519751/
Canny article, It's about time more local rags started to speak the truth about how we fans feel about these charlatans running (or ruining) our club. https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/sport/18510863.stewart-donalds-departure-way-salvage-sunderland/
Within reason. They spoke on our behalf over Christmas without consultation, it’s important that doesn’t happen again.
I know they have learnt from it, but in their defence they and the fanzines got it spot on. I think that it was a time critical statement which hastened the thought process.
Heard a little rumour FPP are going to be at a board meeting in the next week ....... probably a load of S***
there was a board meeting today, Davey Jones just tweeted about it so unless they are having two in a week it’s probably as you say. Plus if it’s in person they are gonna have to isolate for 14 days
