I think you are right though Saint, their riches are so vast they spend frivolously and ultimately poorly
Yeah. It can be a poisoned chalice. If you can make virtually unlimited purchases then you're unlikely to be so discriminating, and making poor choices can lead you to lose ground while you're trying to make them work. Pep is no doubt a very good manager, but it seems he's made some buys based purely on reputation. It's the same mistake Man U have made in recent years, just go for the biggest name you can find and hope you can make them fit.
Mendy was very good for them in his first season at Man City but then he a serious injury and never looked the same since
Mendy looked good going forward but defensively meh . Mind you since at LB you often end playing along side Otamendi it is a bit of a poisoned chalice .
I guess he is. I mean, I still don't think he's ever been properly tested as a manager since every club he's managed and ultimately had huge success with has been ready made for that success, teams already packed with high quality players who have a record of winning titles and enviable, endless financial backing. Obviously he still has to have some managerial nous to go in and get the results but he's had it so easy
I agree. The same with Mourinho - everything they need for success has been handed to them on a plate and that's helped build a reputation. José's has gained a bit of tarnish lately when things haven't worked out for him, and Pep seems a bit petulant when it's not going his way, but I still think both have something above the ordinary, whether or not you like the way they go about it (in Mourinho's case, I really don't like his style at all). I suppose the big test now for Pep is how he responds to being blown out of the water this season - when I'm sure he had felt he was in for a few years of guaranteed success.
If Manchester city wins the Champion league, and they are banned from the competition next season, how many of their stars are going to stay?
Best season for them to get banned. There isnt the market for big moves this summer, or in January. Even if some big name players wanted to go, I don't think there would be anywhere to go.
They need to rebuild and no CL makes it more difficult for them. Kompany wasn't replaced. Now Sané, Fernandinho, and David Silva are going.
Blue Moon forum has lost their minds. They're planning to buy LFC shirts and go to the Etihad in the hopes it gets them awarded the game and/or a points deduction for LFC.
