The Club is pleased to confirm that striker Harry Warwick has finalised a new deal.

Warwick was a member of the cohort of six Academy graduates to sign a pro deal in the summer of 2019 and has today agreed terms to extend his stay at the Memorial Stadium.

The striker's impressive goalscoring return during the 2018/19 season for the Academy grabbed attention, as the forward recorded 18 goals and 8 assists across the campaign. This led to the then scholar joining Gloucester City on loan in October 2018.

The 20-year-old has enjoyed further loan spells to gain exposure to first-team football, including stints at Truro City, Gosport Borough and Dorchester Town, while also featuring regularly for the Rovers Development Squad.

Speaking about the deal, Manager Ben Garner said:
"We are pleased that Harry has agreed a new deal. The loan experiences have given him a valuable grounding in first-team football and with hard work he now has the opportunity to progress his career to the next level.”

Development Squad Manager, Lee Mansell added:
"Harry has pace to burn and a real eye for goal. Along with the other members of the Development Squad, these players have come through our Academy setup and shows that if you are willing to work hard and take your chances when provided, then there is a real pathway now in which you can break through into the first-team."

The Club can today confirm that Ollie Clarke has rejected a new contract in order to seek a fresh challenge elsewhere.

Clarke made over 250 appearances for Rovers since signing a professional deal with the Club in the summer of 2010, with his first-team debut for the Gas coming towards the conclusion of the 2010/11 season at Colchester United.

An injury setback the following campaign limited the midfielder's continued progression to regular first-team football. A brief stint on loan at Clevedon Town aided Clarke's return to full fitness and he signed a one-year extension that summer.

The 2013/14 season was the campaign where Clarke made the full breakthrough into a regular starter in the blue and white quarters, which coincided with his first goal for the Club in a 2-0 win against Portsmouth in December 2013.

Clarke was part of the Rovers side that won promotion from the National League in the 2014/15 season, with the midfielder contributing four goals across the campaign that ended with victory in the Play-Off final over Grimsby Town at Wembley.

On our return to the EFL the following season, Clarke was a mainstay in the side that secured the Club's second successive promotion, with the highlight from the midfielder surely being a fantastic long-range goal during a comprehensive victory over Newport.

Last season, the industrious midfielder was made Club captain and he featured 34 times in all competitions throughout the 2019/20 campaign, scoring in our dramatic win away at Shrewsbury Town.

The 28-year-old will now leave the Memorial Stadium on the expiry of his contract this summer.

Speaking about the departure of the midfielder, CEO Martyn Starnes said:
"We want to thank Ollie for his contribution and services during his time at the Club. Ollie has been a terrific servant to Bristol Rovers F.C over the past decade, with a highlight reel of memories to choose from, which has earned him the label of a fan-favourite. We had been negotiating a new deal with Ollie, with the offer of a testimonial to mark his decade long service, but he felt the time was right for him to seek a fresh start elsewhere. We respect his decision and he leaves the Club with our best wishes as he embarks upon the next step of his career."

Bristol Rovers F.C are delighted to announce that goalkeeper Anssi Jaakkola has agreed a new deal.

The 33-year-old has extended his contract at the Club until 2022 with the option of a further year.

The Finnish international arrived at the Memorial Stadium in the summer of 2019 and featured over 20 times in his first season with the Gas.

Anssi made his Rovers debut in the season opener of the 2019/20 campaign at Bloomfield Road and crucial stops against the likes of Oxford United and a last-minute penalty save against Plymouth Argyle helped the shot-stopper quickly become a fan-favourite.

The form of Jaakkola remained impressive as the season continued, with a string of fine saves at significant moments in games, including a superb stop at Home Park in the Emirates FA Cup that will live long in the memory of Rovers supporters.

A shoulder injury away at MK Dons on New Year's Day led to an abrupt halt to the goalkeeper's season, who has since worked hard during his rehab to get back fit for a return to first-team duties.

Speaking about the deal, Manager Ben Garner said:
"We are all delighted that Anssi has agreed a contract extension. Prior to his injury he was having an outstanding season and we are looking forward to Anssi building on the great form he showed up until that point. Anssi is a great professional and I also see him playing an important role in terms of leadership within our dressing room. Importantly he has a great relationship with Adrian Tucker who continues to develop all of the goalkeepers we have at the club."

    Goalkeeper Coach, Adrian Tucker added:
"It’s great for all concerned that Anssi has agreed an extension to stay at the club. He’s an experienced goalkeeper with a hunger to improve and is well respected within the squad. He was in fantastic form up until his shoulder injury in January and he continued to work hard to be fit for any resumption. He’ll no doubt be a key member of the squad next season.”

The Club is delighted to announce that Alfie Kilgour has agreed a new contract.

The highly-rated 22-year-old extends his stay at the Memorial Stadium until 2023.

The defender, who is a product of the Club's Academy system, has impressed this season after making a breakthrough into the first-team.

The centre-back gained valuable first-team experience through a series of loans spells in his early career. He began his loan stints with local side Mangotsfield United, and also featured for Cirencester Town and Hungerford Town.

It was a spell on loan at Maidenhead United in the Vanarama National League during the 2018/19 season that caught the eye, as his 18 appearances and three goals for the Magpies proved that he was ready to make the step up to feature for Rovers in the EFL.

The defender was recalled to the Mem in March 2019 and was drafted into the first-team squad, making his debut as a late substitute in a win at Gillingham.

The young defender made his first Gas start 11 days later, playing the entirety of our dramatic 2-2 draw at Home Park, drawing plaudits for his performances in a frantic game against Plymouth Argyle.

The 2019/20 season was a standout point in the defender's progression, as he featured over 45 times throughout the campaign.

Kilgour scored his first Rovers goal in the EFL Trophy against Leyton Orient and scored three times across the season, with his long-range strike against Blackpool earning the defender the accolade of the Sky Bet League One Goal of the Month award.

Speaking about the defender committing his future to Rovers, Manager Ben Garner said:
"We are delighted that Alfie has agreed a new deal. He is a local lad who loves the football club. As someone that has progressed through the Academy, he knows what it means to represent Bristol Rovers and that is evident every time he steps onto the pitch. It is very important that we develop our own players and maintain that strong bond with the supporters. Alfie has both the quality and the character required to have a very successful career. I love working with him and he’s a fantastic role model for every young player in our Academy.”

    Alfie added:
"I'm very happy to be extending my stay at a club that means a great deal to both myself and my family. I have enjoyed my transition into the first-team and I understand the focus and desire that I will need to apply to continue to progress. I want to thank Ben for showing his faith in me this season and I'm looking forward to representing the blue and white quarters once again when the new campaign gets underway."

With Alfie signing this longer term contract, this ties him to us while the likes of bigger clubs are sniffing around for his services. It will mean we can command a good fee for him now. Especially as we no longer need to sell to survive as debts are paid.

Get JCH to sign next please.

Having spoken to Alfie Kilgour several times at the training ground when I went to see the U23s and telling that I was looking forward to seeing him playing for the first team his answer was a long way to go yet, I find him very worrying, he is pleasant, charming and loyal to the club that gave him a chance to fulfil his dreams of playing football, I hope that he will fulfil his dreams whether with the Rovers or else where, but I for one am very pleased that when we eventually start playing again it will be for us and not for someone else
