First of many? Not a rich club but one, from the outside, looked comfortable.

Wow, bit of a surprise this, and definitely a worry.

Like you say, on the face of it a good, well run club.

This could be the tip of a very large iceberg, and sadly I've no doubt more will follow and were not in the clear at all, worrying times indeed.

Only 7 years since they won the FA Cup. First of many probably.

Sadly, I think this is the first of a few imo. Bit surprised it's a champo club but they are having to pay to fulfill fixtures so suppose if cash was already tight Covid tipped them over.

Will clubs still suffer a points deduction despite the covid 19 circumstances?

Let’s hope another handful go in the championship and we might get promoted <cheers>

Krasner, a former chairman of Leeds United, added: "Our immediate objectives are to ensure the club completes all its fixtures this season and to urgently find interested parties to save Wigan Athletic FC and the jobs of the people who work for the club.

"Obviously the suspension of the Championship season due to Covid-19 has had a significant impact on the recent fortunes of the club.

"Wigan Athletic has been a focal point and source of pride for the town since 1932 and anyone who is interested in buying this historic sporting institution should contact the joint administrators directly."

They're very likely to be relegated then.

EFL has said 12 point deduction but can’t say when that will be applied until the end of the season. If they finish outside the bottom 3 this season it will be applied this season, if they are automatically relegated this season it will be applied at the start of next season. Looks like they are in big trouble whichever way you look at it. If they get automatically relegated this year starting off 12 points adrift in league one would be horrendous for them.

State of play at the moment with a few more going into admin, although a sad sight to see any club going bust (Apart from a few) but will it be good for us if we aren’t one of them. Would the efl promote clubs from the next division down and in so making us a championship side and then hoping fpp step in. I know I’m grasping at straws but this situation for me is just getting worse and worse and I really can’t see any light from it. I know they never replaced bury but this could be different with a lot of clubs going out of business.

The penalty for administration is points deduction and not relegation. Even if all of the clubs in the Championship went into administration there would still only be three of them relegated. Clubs going out of business like Bury is a different situation, if they all go bust we might go up as champions <laugh>

This comes as Leroy Sane moves from Man City to Munich on a reported £380,000 a week, the top of the football pile is awash with money while the rest face oblivion. There are a lot of clubs going to have no match day income when the season starts if they have to play in empty stadiums.
I just hope we can get through this, the two things in our favour are the club is not laden with debt and we have a large fanbase that will watch pay per view. Still very worrying times even if it is just football.
