Couldn't agree more. He went to see his parents and for his wife's bday. Just imagine if everyone in the country had acted upon the possibility of them contracting the virus and the possibility of not being able to look after their offspring.

Sure, but in a state of panic, aware that local health service was heavily oversubscribed, and putting the health of his young son first, he might well decide to make the trip. I wouldn't condemn him either. And at the end of the day, I know a lot of people dislike Cummings for various reasons, but he is a dad whose first thought was the best interests of his son. That's why I don't think he should have lost his job

Would offer to look after his child for him, ask if he has any relatives living nearer, advise him to look for any services available, also advise him to get someone to write an article fabricating a different version of events, give him some of those pamphlets of where to take the mrs for her birthday and then above all, tell him to lie his way out of the situation.

Why do you get annoyed at crowded beaches in Bournemouth Goldy. I'm sure they all had a reasonable excuse.

Ah fair enough. That would be my gripe aswell. Other than that, they are following examples set by people like cummings.

The long and short of it is quite simple. Either Cummings is telling the truth and his wife is a liar, his wife is telling the truth and cummings is a liar or they both are just completely full of ****. So he should have been sacked straight away along with all other elite figures, regardless of political allegiance who broke the rules.

Let's just leave it that we agree that there's a problem with rubbish dropping, Bob! It's the Glastonbury generation that expects everything to be picked up for them while they go to demonstrations about polluting the planet

    The Glastonbury generation <laugh>

I've been going to festivals for 30 years and have always taken my rubbish, tents and anything else home with me.

These morons on the beaches and other popular tourist spots are just lazy ****ers - you have to wonder what the inside of their houses are like....

I don't want to tar everyone with the same brush and well done for taking everything home. But some of the sights after a festival are horrific. Of course, festival goers may say that waste clearance is built into the price of their ticket and perhaps it is. But some get used to the fact that others will clear up after them in public places. Needs to change

did you feel this way and defend dianne abbott wants to get rid of private schooling but wanted the best for her child by sending him to a private school? <whistle>

just like cummings wants us to social isolate and stay at home but thinks he shouldn't do it if he falls to coronavirus

I've never called for Dianne Abbot to be sacked for sending her child to a private school! I take the point about hypocrisy but that comes second in Cumming's case, because of his concern for his son.

I tell you something else worrying. State teachers who won't go back to school and teach their kids, and are moonlighting in the private sector by giving online tuition. Not right. State school kids are being badly done by

well asking for cummings to be sacked is one step further, but you don't even think he has done wrong which is what is more concerning (well it's fine wrong) whereas you would probably have castigated dianne abbott (I certainly do take issue with her doing that). However, dianne isn't in the government and she hasn't been setting policy to break it

Neutral about the state teacher thing, i don't know enough about it. As for giving online tuition, its not something that bothers me in the sense if there reason is to avoid mixing with large congregations of children then online tuitioning is still avoiding this. obviously for those who are thinking of double wages then that is just being greedy and deserves criticism but i'm sure there are many who are concerned about catching coronavirus and spreading it around.

I know state school kids are still being set work (i have nieces) but agreed some kids are being left behind

State teachers are working as hard if not more than under normal circumstances so how dare they top up their meagre wages with additional work.

There was no one who could have helped. No one at all. Driving to Durham for his mum’s birthday with his wife spluttering all over the dashboard was the ONLY option for this humble father and husband of the year.

Sadly not true in all cases. Several of my colleagues have had cause to contact their kids schools (not the same school) about the apparent lack of work being set and meagre contact from some subject teachers

Others are more than satisfied to be fair

The challenge inevitably is those parents failing their kids by not ensuring that set work is actually done and submitted. I guess in many cases the same parents that can't be arsed if their kids play truant ordinarily. It's OK if it's for their 2 week term time holiday to Florida though

Stortford has a point though. Don’t ruin us child-free couples’ flights with your crap kids. Get on that £900 August flight to Tenerife with the rest of them.
