To be honest if the deal failed for this reason I could live with that as I would like the UK to use its economic power to try and stop human rights abuses and money laundering. However I would be really pissed off if it just used the Newcastle takeover as a high profile case to make an example of, with very little financial consequences for the UK and then ignored things like arms sales to Saudi, buying telecommunications tech from China and all the properties bought in the UK by shady overseas companies that are obviously associated with money laundering by Russian oligarchs. Anyway here's a relevant tune:
