Southampton's defence has improved massively in recent games, the defensive performance against Watford was just as stout as against City.

    0-0.

Gotta love Lawrenson. He's such an arse. Has us down to draw because we've been excellent of late but can't possibly let that stand and has to say that in the long term Everton will be the better team because they'll spend more in the summer. He gets paid for that kind of insight? Maybe he could do a long term prediction for every team in the EPL and then piss off into obscurity where he belongs.

Will be interesting to see if any of the players need a rest. I wouldn't be surprised to see Smallbone in for Armstrong , and Long in for one of the front two.

Everton have become Italian under Ancelotti and have only conceded two goals in four games. Southampton put in a lot of effort into the Man City game therefore I predict a low scoring draw. Happy with a win though!

His comments seem fairly reasonable to me:

"Southampton have been excellent of late, and Sunday's win over Manchester City at St Mary's Stadium made up for their poor home results up to that point.

I think they can maintain their run of form when they go to Goodison Park. Everton don't give much away but Saints always work hard and I think they will get something from this one.

It's Everton who I see pushing on more next season, though. Purely and simply because I think they will be doing more in the transfer market to improve their squad."

That's fair enough. We'll have to be super clever with transfers, starting with KWP! You just never know. If we hit ground running, we could have a very interesting next season.

It isn’t always about how much you spend, it’s how wisely you spend it and what the manager manages to get out of what he is given to work with. If it was solely money, you might as well assign league positions on August and not bother to play the league.
However, Lawrenson’s comments are reasonable enough. Let’s just prove him wrong.

I think Everton will play deep and hope to counter the Saints attacks, so I think we should play Long and play the long ball more often. Che to come on for Ings in the last 15 and score.
    1-0 to the Saints

VAR to disallow all three of Ings goals before JWP scores direct from a corner. FACT.

I got a feeling we are keep him injury free just in case someone comes in for him.

Perhaps, but he has been injured a fair bit every other season.

It is a shame really, I'd love him to come good with us but just can't see it now. Would probably be the right thing to sell if we get a half decent offer.

I think his contract is running down, hence I think we will cash in ......shame because he is an exciting player.

Get rid. And throw in the others as well. Patience has well and truly gone now.
Less talented youngsters offer us more stability.
