Everyone else is very near their current position ... except us, 7 higher!

I would argue that is where we have gone wrong. We have tried to find that flair player that could make the difference: a Ramirez, a Boufal or a Djenepo but none of them turned out and it left gaps. Now we are going with an unspectacular but workmanlike side we are improving. Burnley and Stoke managed to get top 10s this way.

To get top 8 then you need a Tadic or a Mane.

 

I don't think we should stop looking for another Tadic or Mane. Maybe we'll find one in our academy. Maybe.

 

I'm not ruling out Djenepo just yet, he is still raw and young and has shown glimpses of true quality in a Saints shirt and Redders certainly has his moments too but sadly it seems that it is just not working out for Sofiane here as yet another manager deems him not good enough to start regularly.

 

Bloody hell hold your horses on Djenepo! He's definitely got talent. Remember Mane started slowly. Djenepo has had a badly disrupted first season in the PL for lots of reasons - his mother's death, coronavirus and injuries/suspension.

 

That's it, you go and make ****ing excuses for him. We need a whipping boy and he fits the bill perfectly now Redders has turned a corner and Stevens is playing out of his skin.
