This just highlights why the decision to give a free kick was so bad.
No way could the ref have seen if a foul had been committed (it hadn’t) because he was trying to look through Bednarek.
It was a poor guess that could have changed the result.

Too many refs rely on guesswork. I remember even Michael Oliver giving a handball a couple of years ago which he had no way of actually seeing.

 

Our eyes are only receptors...our brain interprets what it sees....and that is influenced by experience. Often a person is not attempting to deceive when he/she claims to see something...the brain has just worked something out based on likelihood.
