If we must have VAR it seemed much less intrusive in CL for example offside decisions were pretty quick instead of sometimes 3 mins we sometimes over here .

Utd setting a new record of most penalties awarded in a Prem season. Currently on 13 with a possible 5 or more to add based on last night's penalty they received.

Pep is confident the ban will be overturned apparently, maybe the owners have told him how much they have paid UEFA

The shock might force him to move to a club where he can buy the league.

I reckon they either get away with it or they split the difference and give them one year ban. No way it will be a two year ban.

I think the game's moved far quicker than the refs have had chance to keep up. In terms of foreign refs and language barriers, I don't think it would be an issue. (I know you didn't say it would be).

my guess is may well be quashed as CAS are as much to do with procedure as if an offence occurred . In the sense that the responsible body , in this case UEFA , must have followed it's own disciplinary procedures correctly for the offence / punishment they face and considering the "war" between UEFA & City that may prove problematic . The internal City e-mail when 1 of the members of a UEFA committee died of "1 down 8 to go" my not have helped <laugh>
With CAS though who knows as it depends on which judges are hearing it things can change depending which "judges" are overseeing the case .

I just watched MotD - having missed all the footie yesterday - and have to add my own incredulity to that already expressed over the Utd penalty decision. It's hard to imagine anyone awarding that live, never mind after extensive scrutiny- a complete travesty.
I've been against VAR from the beginning - I said all along that it can't resolve subjective decisions so my only surprise is that it's even more farcical than I envisaged.
However, like you I'm resigned to it being here to stay, so we have to find ways to improve it. I'd prefer a system where the studio does no more than recommend the ref to review a contentious decision and give him the opportunity to change his mind. I thought this was how it was meant to work but it doesn't appear to be the case. At the moment there seems to be the perception that overturning his decision is undermining his authority and this is causing some really bad decisions.
All that the replays do for us is further illustrate how wrong the decision was. They're getting so many things wrong, and showing the evidence of the mistake in all its gory detail. Catastrophic.

VAR's ****ing awful and the game as a live spectacle will forever be worse for it. It slows the game down, takes all the emotion out as you can't really celebrate goals anymore, and still gets loads of wrong decisions as evidenced last night.

An absolute travesty what's been done to the game. Can't wait for the day we're relegated.

as far as i can remember only twice have refs used the pitchside monitor one of which was a couple of days ago when Nekitah (sp) of Arsenal had his yellow upgraded to Red . For some god forsaken reason PGMOL don't want refs doing that though it seems the obvious one for some subjective decisions .

Personally I think thats a bunch of bollocks and is used by people who just want to whinge about something, because they can't think of a better reason for not wanting VAR

But I agree with the second part. Whats the point if it still gets things wrong.

Do you go to live PL games? If not, you’re not best placed to call his comment bollocks there.

I'd say it's different for different people, many people it effects and some it doesn't. To say it's bollocks is quite clearly wrong when you see how many people say it. Everyone's different.

Personally for me you no longer get that burst of adrenaline when the ball hits the net, you instead spend 30 seconds (if lucky) glancing from screen to ref, or worse stand around for minutes waiting for some words to pop up on the screen. It's undoubtedly the worst thing about var imo.

Have you been many times this season out of interest?

That's not true, I was at Anfield to see you lot beat us 4-0 just 5 months ago. Though admittedly it feels like a lot longer!

Surely that means you are more concerned that your team has scored a goal worthy of VAR. Personally that doesn't worry me.

Only a few, mainly cause I do other stuff on Saturdays and that takes away most of the games of the season.
I am rather sick of this attitude that peoples loyality, view, etc etc of games is devalued if they can't go to games everyweek. Some of us aren't as lucky to live on the doorstep or have to work or just have other commiments.

I did manage to get to a game. Unfortunatley only the one, as the time I would normally get to games has fallen in the lockdown period.
