This statistic reaffirms that we need to build from the back with a strong defence rather than rely upon outscoring the opposition every time.
Decided to sod football, got to the stage of beyond caring......finish the season asap as what we're seeing now is more than likely to be the norm next season..... it's going to be a long tough winter.... At least the cricket is going well.....oh wait... At least the wine was nicely chilled and it's a glorious evening here....
That's exactly right. Lee Hoos set the mood with his whinging in the press about having to play so soon. The players have taken his lead.
Well said, Tramore. The end to this season has been poor but with players no doubt leaving, next season is going to be a shocker unless our club owners stop making excuses and spend some dollars on player recruitment. Enjoy your wine .............. by the way, is it homemade and what's the vintage, AM or PM? please log in to view this image
I truly don't know what's going on at the club but the scariest thing is that neither does Warburton. With each passing game since the restart the entire group of young players - Eze, Bright and Manning in particular - who provided a real spark of excitement earlier in the season and who are all expected to go on to better things have become increasingly less effective and yesterday they failed to compete at all. I can well imagine how depressing it must be to watch an incompetent defence cough up goals game after game but the manager has failed to motivate his young team and has allowed our positive traits to be totally overwhelmed by the negative ones. What's happened to the pressing game that was often really effective before the break? Why have we been totally unable to take advantage of the double teaming of Bright and Eze? We quite rightly get frustrated with the players but the coach has some serious questions to answer IMO.
Once Wells left we should have replaced him with someone. What’s going on with Jack Clarke? He was supposed to be decent.
Turns out he’s about seven stone. The one time he’s looked very useful was a home game where he played on the left and just cut back to his right foot every time to put a decent cross in for Hugill. With no target man he’s less than pointless.
A very strong and scathing report, or rant, from Clive at LFW. https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footb...ing-the-drain-after-sheff-wed-debacle--report
Whilst I agree with almost all of this, I remain a fan of Warburton but he is clearly guilty of failing to organise the defence and of failing to motivate the players post lockdown. It's easy, too easy, to blame the team's inexperience at the moment but the defensive chaos has been with us all season, even when we had seasoned professionals operating there. The marking at corners, in particular, has been beyond a joke: we seem to play a hybrid of man and zonal marking and even a numbskull like me can see that IT AIN'T WORKING!!!
That's a painful read - I only hope that someone from the club puts this on Warburtons desk and he uses it to galvanize the team for the remainder of the season.
True - it is very strong stuff. I hope that MW does something to get a better performance against Luton who will be really up for the match. I can’t see it but I hope that I will be wrong.
