    Run this evening or tomorrow.

It's fair to say I haven't been much arsed over the last couple of days in sweltering heat.

Been swimming in this natural rock pool this morning. Off for a bike ride in a bit.

Looks a bit too steep for me mate ... leave uphill swimming to specialists... have you got one with a gentle incline?

Shin splints returned tonight, oh joy. It's pain I can't run through. Shouldn't anyway.

I'd had a week off too, not like I've overdone anything.

Serves me right for being a fat **** I suppose.

What do shin splints feel like? I'm getting a random shooting pain in my left shin. Hurts like ****, lasts for about six seconds.

I get cramp in my shin muscles and then it becomes a sharp pain at one point central to the shin. Very painful, like someone tapping a nail into the shin on impact with the ground.

I've suffered for decades, used to get them playing cricket and then regularly playing squash. I used to go for shin massages at a physio, that helped a lot.

They're a bastard tbh. Went on a run last night and had to stop a couple of times to let the shin release but was ok for most of it. I wear those calf compression socks, I look a right tit.

This is what I get but when I'm not exercising. I do a lot of rough terrain when I'm out with my dogs on the river and I've suffered from twitchy calfs because of this before. I was gonna get compression socks. I have one for my dodgy knee (old football injury) and when I don't wear it the pain is unbearable. I wear it and it's gone.

Might have asked you this before, but do you use the Strava app ?

Got it on my phone for cycling, great for measuring your times, distance etc. But also really good for plotting routes and tapping into existing routes that other users have uploaded.

    I'm not!

My top speed is 10mph tbh, that's ample. I'm not doing this to race.

I use Map my Run, pretty much the same thing.

Will have a look at Strava though, other people have mentioned that.

If I do two or three four mile runs a week will have to do for now. I'm not going in a gym anytime soon and haven't got time for much else.

be keen to use the pool again, Not even sure what the score is on that front.

I’ll probably wait until the autumn when the weather turns anyway.

Without doubt. I assume we’ll have to book slots which will be a bit **** so probably an hour limit but nice to have the option on top of what I’ve learned to do from home, especially when the weather is ****.
