No - not the Kipling poem.... If Dean Holden oversees the unlikely and we break into the playoffs, should he be given the chance of being the full-time manager? edit - I just noticed an identical thread on OTIB - I promise it was nothing to do with me and I hadn’t read it before posting this - just a freak coincidence !!!
a terrible word if ….. its actual "proper " use is so small …. should Dean Holden pick up 10 of the 15 points available then he should be given a head coach badge …. should he pick up 8 of the fifteen should be given 15 games of the new season to prove his worth. LEE WAS HIS OWN ENEMY in a way … [ victim of the adverse side of a general seasons fixtures and fortunes ] took us to close to the play off's and altered the mindset of the board and PROBABLY SL as well the next round of fixtures will clear the muddy water a bit more … CARDIFF v DERBY ……. MILLWALL v BBURN ….. FLOREST v SWANSEA …. we should HOPE FOR …… D … D … H and the 2nd BEST … A …. A … D
Been there and done that far far too often and pretty much failed every single time, with the slight exception of Joe Jordan but he then buggered off to better himself apparently.
True in our case, but it HAS worked out before elsewhere - for example Nigel Adkins and Jose Mourinho.....
You could apply that to anything in life, there is one recorded case of a person with rabies surviving, so technically not everybody who gets it dies from it.
Its the usual trend of a Manager being sacked and his replacement getting a few decent results. I know technically we can still reach the Playoffs but logically we've no pressure and have nothing much to play for apart from our final league position. Whether the players are suddenly free to express themselves, or whether Holden is closer to them than Johnson was, or saw the mistakes that were made previously remains to be seen, but for me, if the owner wants top flight football anytime soon, then he needs to buy himself a Manager who can deliver it. And I don't think that's Dean Holden.
Nooooooo if they had the balls they should have confronted LJ and said look let's try this. All part of the same team.
I'd rather let Dean have a pop than the dross we've been linked with, who's to say he wouldn't do well......We say we have got good players, he knows them better than most.................In the meantime, SL & Co can keep their eye out to see what else is available once the season finishes.....if required!! Been listening to a few of his interviews, seems like a decent bloke with a bit of determination in his belly..might work out.
We have had quite a long history of promotion from within the club in recent periods ~ 1st we had ~ Tinnion, 2nd Millen, 3rd Pemberton, 4th Junior - 5th we might get Holden, whilst they have all been hard working, committed guys and achieved various levels of success or failures, none have have achieved a promotion or significant advancement (progress). We should be prepared to pay the money, invest in experience , employ a proven winner and gain the success we all crave, 2nd best choice shows lack of ambition.
I do note LJ was employed by Oldham and Barnsley but he obviously had a serious connection with Bristol City, hence I included him.
If you have aspirations of promotion you employ suitably talented players, similarly you should employ a suitably experienced manager/ head coach.
1 recorded survivor ho ho ho ho ...there are loads of survivors .. if you do not seek treatment then you are unlikely to survive … next you will be telling the survivor was LEE ? or Gary or ……… edit note should you not seek attention after being bitten and it gets into the viral stream / paths of the body then there is a point of no return apparently once you have full blown rabies you do die … so technically correct.... peeps that die, usually in poor countries without same heath care as the rest of the world has
I agree, if we were looking at a top notch Manager.....but out of the few that we've been linked with I'd prefer someone that knows the players and knows how the club works....So far he's got 2 wins under his belt and has been praised for the freedom he's allowed the players....for all we know, we might have a gem there. Either way, it can be successful or go belly up!!
He’s no experience at all, of course he could be a world beater , but we are really presently in the best position we’ve been in for many years to attract an experienced manager, we’ve absolutely no idea who’s in the running obviously but I would be surprised if he’s our best option. edit It’s a bit like not buying Wells who’s an experienced goal scorer as our level because we’ve already got Semenyo , after all Semenyo given a chance may be a top championship striker. I know who I’d prefer .,
Wigan showing that 2-1 win against Hull was not that great 7-0 on 58 minutes They’ve wiped their negative GD out. And as it stands their 12 point reduction won’t put them in relegation spot.
