Unless the horse didn't like that nice ground, or I missed something else, then that was a lovely schooling session that Oisin gave Rushmore, never even knew it was in a race. I don't think he even touched the horse once. Once to watch next time for sure but disappointing when you don't even get a run for your money. I had fancied it myself so not a dig at your selection.
2.30 York I really like Euchen Glen in this at 25s. Two nice comeback runs after a year out. The doubt is this could be a route to the Ebor so might be off today. Last run was eye-catching having been held up on the 1st run of the year, was never going to be put to the sword. Form somewhat franked by Red Verdon winning in France previous to that run in the Old Newton Cup. This horse has a lot going for it today if 100%
while you are about stick, have a look at Bath 5.35 and 605 and explain why the money is down on those please. M.Att Horses
Good early pace from Clareyblue, and it panned out as I had expected it might tactically, but he hit the wall and the cavalry came to claim him. He'll probably get some relief from the Handicapper after today's run but if he is struggling to last 5F at York it seems hard to say where the options are after today.
Guru could win if he has a mind to, well drawn and a track that suits him well. I cant see Pink Flamingo though. The 1 draw could be a massive negative as not a forward going horse and will need plenty of luck in running.
Hi Ron. Just realised I posted this in the wrong feed. I understand if it can’t be accepted but thought I would highlight my ‘doh’ moment.
Things are going to plan .... I'm expecting a winner soon With luck Vivid Diamond will oblige next at Noobs
Maximal was very unlucky in not holding on. He picked it up and looked to have put the race to bed but the Gosden Kingman colt Guru produced a late burst to win by a flared nostril in the last hoof-print. The pair were three lengths clear of the remainder and it will be surprising if they are not smart. Rushmore was disappointing and very green, unable to even match his much less fancied stablemate but he looks almost guaranteed to improve for the experience. Legend Of Dubai made a satisfactory debut and is perhaps more of a long term prospect. Maximal's dam Joyeuse had a promising looking sort in Jubiloso ,who won her first couple of races and seemed to be going places, but she seems to have lost her way since a good third in the Coronation Stakes last year. Guru's dam has only had the three foals and the best was Questionare, who won a Novice race and was second in two more before debuting in a Handicap off 94 when trained by Gosden himself. That Handicap was the ultra competitive King George and despite the 16 runner field Questionare was a skinny 7/2. He was 14th, beaten 44 lengths and the trainer said in the aftermath that the colt was upset in the preliminaries and might benefit from being gelded. 8 days later his crown jewels were waved goodbye......the horse, not Gosden! The horse made little impact transferred to Ireland in two subsequent starts. I would probably be with Legend Of Dubai as the best 3YO prospect.
I have Edraak in this race at York because of the high draw but I've just done HIGHLY SPRUNG @28/1 from stall 20
I'm retiring (but not shy) I may come out of retirement tomorrow however Good luck to those still in the game
I noticed that John Quinn had Liberty Beach and El Astronaute entered in the City Walls Stakes at York today. I felt the filly was a shoo-in for the race but with Jason Hart down to ride both entries it was clear the stable were unsure which one they would run, so I declined to go in at 3/1. In the end El Astronaute was the one they went with and he finished stone bonking last. I thought that this race was an ideal opportunity for both a confidence booster and to get in a sighter for the Nunthorpe if they are indeed going to face the best sprinters with her. Not so much a penalty kick missed as a penalty kick where you changed your mind and sent Gareth Southgate out to take it (wearing a suit, tie and slip on shoes) when you could have sent Matt Le Tissier out instead.
