Was just reading up on him. Apparently a bit of a wonder kid at Cov then Leicester snapped him up and he seems to have just rotted in their U23s mainly though he had a decent year in L1 last season and a few games in Holland pre-pandemic. Sometimes these come off and sometimes you get a Sean Goss/Matt Smith/Tom Carroll/Amos.
Not much. A 23 year old who is 1.73 metres tall and is an attacking midfielder. Could it be another no.10 and someone to be developed as the next Eze? https://www.transfermarkt.co.uk/george-thomas/profil/spieler/298240
Reality is that we can't afford to buy a load tried and tested Championship players, and will have to take a few gambles I'd certainly like to get some younger players in though - our current older players are either injury prone or simply past it I just hope that as WWR suggests we don't end up wasting our cash on a bunch of duffers
A few goals scored for Coventry whilst on loan from Leceister. He seems to be fairly sharp in front of goal.
8 goals in 79 League 1 appearances so not exactly a prolific scorer Let's hope he can step up a league
Just been reading about him on LFW. He was a bit of a star at Coventry, and a Welsh International. Scored in a Wembley final. Yet I dont find it on the Official, though on QPR Twitter apparently.
Agreed Jeff I think we could be just the environment that he needs to kick on, and of course he will have seen how the club has developed Eze - another youngster that we took a punt on
He is a freebie, we have put him on the traditional 3 years plus 1 option. He has a lot to prove. This is OK. When we have oney we will buy what we need now...a forward and an army of defenders
Been following him since 2014 apparently when he scored a 1st half hat trick against us at U18 level.
Mixed reviews from Coventry fans, and didn’t pull any trees up last season but it’s a free transfer, he’s young at 23, and if he’s coach-able and works hard then he’ll fit the mould Warbs is looking for. Think it’ll go one way or the other, but it’s the sort of signing we should be making. Players with potential re-sale value.
Sounds like a good signing to me. Only negative he's not bigger and stronger, but hopefully we'll get these in too.
Confirmed that Dundee Utd will play in the top flight next season, so imagine that would put an end to any approach for him now.... Hearts & Partick Thistle relegations confirmed by arbitration panel https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/53526063
My Foxes mate reckons he’s a decent prospect but would get zero game time at Leicester. Shouldn’t expect too much, if he was great he’d still be there.
He joined Leicester just after they'd won the Premier League. We were interested but couldn't match the competition. Nor could Thomas when it came to getting a game in their top quality squad, but he did well in their U23's before going out on loans.
For me it sounds like a shrewd and good value acquisition. A classic “rough diamond”. Let’s hope that Ramsey and Warburton make him shine!
A detailed report on the lad from LFW: https://www.fansnetwork.co.uk/footb...r-take-a-chance-on-leicesters-thomas--signing
Could be a very shrewd signing. I heard about this lad when he made his debut (think he was 16). Was talked up like they do and the big premiership move came way too soon in his career. Let's welcome him with open arms and hopefully we see some of the quality that got him originally noticed.
