Wigan have now created a great chance of escaping relegation after the 12 point deduction penalty. Amazing heart and spirit to fight if they pull it off!
My thoughts exactly. In fairness, I don’t think many teams could pull off such an heroic escape. Good luck to them! I hope they complete the task!
Paul Cook just giving an amazing interview on Sky, god I feel so much for them, who the fxxk sorts out fit and proper owners, just like life in the UK destroyed by Russian/Chinese and far East money lining the pockets of our Government, with no thought about anything other than big bucks in their pockets. I know their is different threads for politics but this is politics, football is ****ed as is society
Rumour was it was all part of Chinese betting syndicates. They can fight it out in League 1. I am too jaded after what QPR have been through to give a flying fart about anyone else caught out. Interesting that Citeh got away with a slap on their wrist and are looking forward to becoming a powerhouse of European football meanwhile we are still skint after having to fork out for our fine. What happened to the milk of human kindness? It's gone off, it stinks.
I suspect that Wigan will lose their appeal against the points deduction The club has gone into administration - fact.....so 12 point deduction in mandatory However, the reasons why the club went into administration seem murky to say the least, and the EFL is going to have to be seen to do a proper investigation this time. The fact pattern looks very different from - for example - Bury, and even the least financially astute person would suspect that not all is right
if Wigan lose 12 points maybe other clubs who have been creative with their funds should face a similar point reduction...
also a bit ironic that Dull City owners asset strip the club, the club gets relegated so surely the cost of this going investment becomes cheaper??
Interesting to read that Sheff Wed and Derby could get a 12 point penalty for their creative accountancy and depending on the seriousness they could have an additional 9 point sanction added meaning both could yet go down...
I would prefer Wigan, Derby and Wednesday to start next season on negative points rather than be relegated this season. It undermines a gargantuan 46 game competition by changing the bottom 3 after the last game, and them starting with a big handicap next year gives us a bit of breathing space......
Well, you got your wish for Wednesday who will start next season on -12 points, no joy for Charlton who would have been reprieved...
There should be consistency on all clubs with points deductions: They either all have penalties imposed on this finished season OR all start next year on minus the same points. Feel for Wigan - what their owner did should was not seen from the off whereas the other clubs their owners knew full well that their activities were wrong. Additionally......who did the owners Fit and Proper test at Wigan...….
Reading the Times today, the Wednesday deduction is for the season ending 2018. They "alledgedly" sold their ground to a different company (but owned by their owner) to make a big profit and so keep them within FFP. If that is not bad enough...the company they sold their ground to, was not incorporated until June 2019. I think they should lose an additional 12 points just for being that stupid!
Slightly frustrating thing about this is that - as I understand it - they've been punished for that stupid accounting mistake rather than just the selling of their ground to get round FFP. Which means there isn't a precedent set for Derby, Florist, Reading et al. Yet...
