It was Ullovamans comment. I don't believe for one second it is their intention to destroy us. It depends then on the definition / interpretation of the phrase 'destroy us'. You could say they have or are already doing just that - support decimated, the spirit across the city & region built up during the 2000's totally wrecked, a generation lost (seniors or young ins?!), virtually no value or quality left in the squad,..... etc. Following Large Elephant's post, an interesting quote made by the (pre-expulsion) owner of Bury "While many would have walked away having unearthed the true position of the club, that's simply not my style," he said."But nor am I a never-ending ATM machine. Fiscal prudence and fans through the turnstiles are what will ultimately safeguard the future of our club." We might claim to have fiscal prudence, that's highly debatable when there's still a £40 mill debt there being serviced and when multiple incomes streams are shrinking / being killed off by the week, but the rest of it has a familiar ring to it. Hmmn.
Just heard that a long-term debenture owner has thrown in the towel - they're even losing the confidence of their supporters now.
Even that was after months of lying about it. I remember being in a supporters meeting with the club on the morning of the Cardiff 2-2 which promoted us. It was the old FLAG group that Nick Thompson held. Les and Andy from Amber Nectar were going on and on about this plot by the owners to change the name. The owners were largely still popular then and most of us didn't really believe it and wondered why they were so obsessed with the idea. Nick Thompson was at that point still either lying about it or kept in the dark by the Allams, but he was insistent that there was no such plan. That would have been over 3 months before they eventually came clean.
