Liverpool have confirmed Jonjo Shelvey has joined Blackpool on loan until December 31, 2011. The 19-year-old will spend the remainder of the year with Ian Holloway's Championship side and could make his debut against Bristol City on Saturday.

Shelvey has made 22 first-team appearances for Liverpool since moving to Anfield from Charlton Athletic in May 2010.

Should be a good move for the lad. I rate him and getting him some first-team experience in a good league will be good for Jonjo.

    Your thoughts?

Can't hurt to get him some experience, he has shown flashes of potential and hopefully this loan move will help him further himself.

That's a good move for Shelvey and the club.

Overall a good move for Jonjo, shame he didn't go out to another EPL club however the move can only be a good thing I guess.

Let's face it this season he wouldn't of got a sniff unless a bad string of injuries happened.

    Good luck Jonjo <ok>

I reckon it will be a good move for him. There is no doubt he has skill, then again so has Aquilani but he's not going to track back and win posession. Thats why I would for the moment would have Jay Spearing over him, Jay may not be the most talented or anywhere near as talented as Shelvey, but he sticks the boot in.
If Shelvey learnt how to, and he may have to in the championship, then he would be useful when he returns. Sometimes these talented players that don't put in a bit of graft are both luxuries and liabilities.

I agree, I just dont see why people rate him. He'll turn out to be an average Prem player that would fit in at a Fulham or WBA

Jonjo got a goal and a assist on his debut for Blackpool as they beat Bristol City 5-0.

David Amoo also got a goal as Bury beat Yeovil 3-1.

    A good day all round!

Well done to the lad, I think he is forgotten too easily. He has a big future ahead of him, hopefully it will be at Liverpool. <ok>

I can't believe some people don't rate this guy when he is only 19, remember how bad Lucas was when he first signed and he is now one of the best DMs in the prem. Give Shelvey a couple of year's and then judge him, I think he will go on to be a top player.

I think he has potential to become a great player. Similar to Gerrard in that he's strong, likes to tackle, looks confident, always wants the ball and has a good range of passing.

I believe he is better than Spearing but he doesn't possess the same level of composure and decision making which is probably why he is behind Spearing at the minute. I'm glad he's on loan and especially at Blackpool where they play good football.

I would have agreed with you until you mentioned the tackling part. He jumps out of challenges more often than Raul Mereiles. His tracking back is non existent. On current form and even though he's not as talented as Shelvey, Jay Spearing is ahead of him. Jay may not have his passing range, but Jay tracks back and can tackle. Shelvey may eventually prove to be a better player overall as he has more skill, but so far Jay Spearing is ahead of him.

How can people say they don't rate him and want rid. He's 19?! He's got another 4-5 years until he gets anywhere near his prime. I think the problem is people expect these 19 year olds to be as good as Rooney, Messi, Fabregas were at 19 which is so unrealistic. Plenty of players don't come good until they get to mid 20's.

These same people saying he's no good are probably the same people who are raving about 16 year olds in the youth team and build up their expectation, only to then say the exact same thing in 3 years time when they aren't already superstars.

Give them all time and judge them when they are playing regular football.
