How do I know that the barristers have written to the PL? Standard practice. They write to confirm their representation.
These developments are certainly interesting. I might wind up conceding that this takeover could actually be happening!

Ashley's launched legal proceedings with the aim being to change ownership of the club.. Well that's the reason that's being claimed.. Two top lawyers some de marco dude and some Fatima bird...
The statement he issued last week claimed that the PL hadn’t acted appropriately in the matter and that they had rejected the Saudis under the FPP rule. Which the PL have since denied was the case, and that it was as per their previous statement on the matter i.e. that hadn’t rejected them. He’s now hired sports lawyers, but until it’s known exactly what he’s intending to pursue them for and on what grounds, it’s impossible to have a considered view. All I’ve seen apart from the simple facts of the statements and him hiring wigs is guesswork and conjecture.
He’s basically said that the PL rejected his buyers and he doesn’t agree with their conclusion. But what’s he going to pursue them for? It wasn’t him who was supposedly rejected and if it was them who wanted to contest that decision, they’d have surely appealed the decision in the first instance and then moved to legal if that appeal also failed? So what does that leave? Damages based on a restriction of trade? Maybe, but they completely refute that there was a rejection, merely an impasse and an offer of arbitration. Until his legal team issue a LBA then it’s anyones guess basically. However, I think the assumption that his statement combined with him hiring QC’s somehow equates to ‘its defo happening’ is somewhat of a reach.
