He should be well suited to play as a WB in that formation. It's what I'd like us to play when appropriate.
I fear we are coming into squeaky bum territory. The playing staff are planning for a successful season, with the new squad, leading to another promotion but the money men are having to plan on another season with no spectators and a few seasons in the Championship There seems limited interest in the three players we need to get rid of and whilst we seem to have planned for most eventualities we have no control over the activities of other Clubs. Realistically every player on the books has a price and whilst I cannot see us letting any player go on the cheap I cannot see us turning down an over the value offer for any player which not only means finding a replacement but also cancels out a lot of the pre-season planning. I accept that this scenario is unlikely but what would we do if because of injury a Premiership club is desperate for a GK and makes a silly offer for Krul in the last stages of the window?
Unless we sign another keeper in the window I still think we are in the position to day get stuffed even if 10-15mill was offered for him, the prise of promotion is worth more money than that and we can hold out until Jan.
I'm more worried about the scenario where Krul picks up a significant injury and McGovern is our only senior goalkeeper for months. At least with the window open until October, we can wait and see for a bit. In terms of balancing the books, I believe Webber when he says we have no need to sell this summer. And I think he believes that our assets are worth £25m, and that we can afford to hold onto them until the market recovers and clubs become interested at that price. We've probably sold Jamal for a £25m "package", and it sounds like he was keen to move on. I'd think that makes sure any holes in the finances are covered for now, and I suspect the club are planning to cover any further CoVid-related shortfalls by selling the players in successive windows, rather than getting the money up front.
I'm not overly bothered about McGovern being the reserve keeper I think he would do a good enough job, though saying that he hasn't played much the last few years.
Last few days there's been a flood of official NCFC photos of players training on Twitter... Lots of smiles etc... Nothing of Emi
Young 18 year old Cobblers striker refused a contract and is seen as a good prospect, his brother is at Villa they want him as well as Brugge Caleb Chukwuemeka
Ditto , I would like to get Angus Gunn back he hasn't played much since letting in 9 against Leicester for Saints. McGovern came in with Alex Neil and as you say rarely played he's getting on a bit too. Saints have 4 keepers Mccarthy number 1 , Fraser Forster is also on their books I would take him back too .
I would take a punt on Gunn too, but he doesn't need to be another second or even third choice keeper. The lad needs to go to a club in need of a number 1, championship level hopefully for him. He needs to rebuild his reputation and the only way is by playing. He wouldn't displace krul in a hurry, but as a home grown option if Krul were pinched late in the window, I would like to see him come in. Bah!
Most teams have 2 competing keepers , and Krul is 32 . Gunn is 2nd or 3rd choice at Saints so he would be looking to fight for the number 1 spot. If Tim gets suspenjured then we will struggle, pretty sure we got him on a free anyway . Forster on loan would also be good cover.
I’d be very surprised if Buendia remains a City player by the middle of October. I reckon a deal to sell him is close to wrapped up tbh. But the buying club will want him to see out his suspension here before they start paying his wages.
He is probably our best player but if we can sell him for 10 times what we payed for him and his heart isn't in another season in the Championship then it would be best for all parties if he went. I'm hoping we are reading too much into the no smiley Twitter pictures due to him not being eligible for selection against Huddersfield. He's a terrific talent but on occasions last season he tried to take on the whole team hogging the ball and looked petulant when it didn't work , waving his arms and gesticulating to the ref. He only scored 1 goal as well which was dissapointing. If Lewis is worth £15-£20 m then Emi is worth £25-£30 m . I don't want to lose him but if it means closing shop and keeping everyone else then I would begrudgingly accept it. Realistically we don't need to sell anyone but God forbid we finish mid season, the values of most of our promising young talent will plummet . If we keep hold of the 3 England u21 boys then that would be fantastic. One thing is certain we have an enormous squad and will probably need to send a few out on loan , Idah scoring yesterday means he won't be going anywhere, a few of the players that played against Luton will probably be sent out on loan.
Jamal Lewis received a good rating from the fans after NUFC win at West Ham. I hope this is the start of a successful season for him.
I can accept going up and not spending any money to try and keep us up , but to not spend any significant amount on players get relegated and still sell the best players would be extremely short sighted. We can cope without Lewis but if we lose anyone else we are pretty much giving up on promotion again. I don't want the board to spend big but we need to show a little bit of ambition. https://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/f...ce-string-talents-recoup-losses-COVID-19.html
Some may have seen the interview with Emi in the papers today. From an ITK...: "Not been a sniff of interest for Emi. Not an email. Therefore, agent/Emi has interview. Club knew nothing about it. Not sanctioned. Webber unhappy"
With 4 years remaining on his contract we are in a really strong position, I doubt he has a relegation clause.
Considering we held out for £15M + for Lewis, if and when Buendia leaves I would be extremely disappointed if we sold him for less than £25M
