This government has been a monumental disaster over this (and other issues). Although, I dare say, I doubt anyone with a functioning brain is surprised

Do they have the right to enter your house if they want to check if you have people over Who aren’t part of your household? Otherwise how is it enforceable?

The police are gonna be run off their feet <laugh>

Not really enforceable, it's back to the goodwill of people observing the rules, as the majority tried to do in the original lockdown.

Northumberland and Durham didn't have to join in with the T&W Authorities but chose too show a united front.
It also puts pressure on the government to sort the testing out, which is abysmal in the region.
The leader of Gateshead Council was clear this morning that the official figures are woefully out of step with what is being seen locally. It's well known round here that there's been people who were positive still going out in the community.

IMO the LAs have shown some leadership, in order to stave off a full lockdown.
If people can't show some common sense, it's a poor show and they need a kick up the arse.

Each to their own. For me the data doesn't back any of this up so I'm not playing ball this time. I went along with it last time, just because I thought it was the right thing to do when people knew so little. But given what we know now, I'm just of the opinion that its either incompetence or something more sinister. Don't get me wrong, I have no problem with protecting elderly or those in at risk categories (I have family in this situ) but otherwise I'm just gonna crack on as normal. I still don't know anyone who has had it. Indeed I know more people who have had faulty or dodgy tests than COVID itself.

I will respect other peoples wishes in terms of when I'm out and about but in terms of sticking rigidly to their rules which all contradict each other and infringe basic freedoms for no good reason, I'm just not having it based on those death rates etc. I won't be wearing masks unless I'm in a situ where I absolutely have to (work basically) because that is just utter nonsense.

Its not trying to be clever or say I don't believe COVID is real or anything daft like that, but I'm not just gonna blindly follow a bunch of morons giving **** information out.

They are also far more likely to work in the hospitality sector (behind bars, waiting tables, general public-facing dogsbody) and in other jobs deemed a higher risk. You're more likely to be living with other people with their own families rather than just living with your own family (so bubbles are a more sensitive issue) and to be honest it must be a nightmare if you're single and looking for "love".

I'm sure when you guys were in your late teens/ early twenties you'd have refused sex with girls if this sort of thing had happened :)

Sorry to hear that Liam. Same thing happened to one of my wife's relatives during lockdown. 4 or 5 weeks on a ventilator, just looked like his lungs were starting to improve a little and it then attacked his kidneys. He also sadly died. Other than that only know of two others who have had it - one ended up in intensive care on a ventilator for about three weeks (only in his early twenties, not overweight and no known health issues etc.) but did eventually recover (though still not well). The other was diagnosed last week or the week before and the last I heard is very ill at home.

We lost £400 of our caravan site fee due to not being able to go from March-June. I lost 3 months of my golf membership. We've had 3 holidays cancelled while another planned for a weeks time looks like it will be too (dont book holidays ffs). Now the really annoying part, being self-employed I've lost loads of work (without being 'furloughed') and haven't been able to claim a single penny of the £37billion dished out by the Treasury (and I fully expect to pay more in taxes in the years ahead). Meanwhile, I know one person who has died from this and a handful of others who have had it. No wonder I'm pissed off with it all. Oh never mind, I'm playing golf again later. **** them all.
