Keeping fingers X'd... Edit: here's the interview: https://www.eveningexpress.co.uk/sp...return-and-vows-to-keep-battling-for-norwich/ (Spoiler alert: We're none the wiser).
Basically says that if a good bid comes in for him he wants to go to a Premier League team, if not he is happy to stay and fight to get back up with Norwich
In his own words: “Until the day I leave the club I will fight for them. I’m thinking about playing well and helping the team. My head is here,” said Buendia, who signed a five-year deal last summer. “I see clubs are interested in me. I love to hear that because it means Premier League teams want to get me in their team. I’m happy with that." With Dowell, Placheta and Sinani added we could cope with Emi leaving for a good price. Might that suggest a slight change in tactics?
Heads up for fans living away from Norwich. It's free postage on orders from the online shop till this weekend. (National and international)
The Canaries are set to feature on the box twice in October, with their home fixtures against Derby and Birmingham amongst the games to be selected for screening by Sky Sports. The Canaries host the Rams on Saturday, October 3 and that clash with Philip Cocu’s side has been selected for broadcast on Sky Sports - and will now kick off at the earlier time of 12.30. City host Aitor Karanka’s Blues on Tuesday, October 20 - despite no change to the original kick-off time, the game will also be shown on television.
David Freezer's 6 points about the Preston match brings out some salient points, one of which is how dependent we still are on young players. Oli Skipp had a good performance against Huddersfield, but struggled more against Preston: "The midfield pairing of Kenny McLean and Oliver Skipp seemed to lose its balance, with the talented but inexperienced Skipp culpable for both goals and neither offering the defensive cover of Alex Tettey." Skipp is full of potential, but there are also risks in his lack of experience. The balance between youthful potential and older players with experience is just one of many decisions for DF. https://www.eveningnews24.co.uk/sport/norwich-city/norwich-2-preston-2-six-things-1-6847156
It's a travesty to pick out Skipp as uniquely culpable for the second goal. The goal came from a succession of errors by at least 5 City players -- Zimmermann, McLean, Skipp, Godfrey and Hernandez. Of the five, I'd say Skipp was the least culpable!
I agree that Skipp was not the only one 'culpable' for the second goal, but that does not mean that he wasn't one of those who failed to prevent it happening. I agree that we shouldn't single out any player for blame, but neither should we wear yellow tinted glasses. Skipp put in a good performance at Huddersfield where his WhoScored rating was 6.94. Against Preston, his rating was 6.29, the lowest for any City player who completed the full 90 minutes.
Nothing to do with yellow tinted spectacles Rick. The main reason for that 6.29 was Preston's effective pressing, which included specifically targeting Skipp. Our response was to resort to long balls rather than trying to play out from the back, effectively taking Skipp out of play (as witness Krul's goal kicking, particularly in the first half).
2 Games into the season & there's only 3 teams that have won both games and only 9 teams that are unbeaten. Just goes to show what we knew that the Championship is a very competitive league.
