so our beloved Colston hall is to become Bristol Beacon and the management are at great pains to state that it was agreed 3 years ago ….[before the diluted BLM disorganized organization was ever heard of ].
what adds a bit farcicality to the whole thing is they name a bridge after a departed slave! … a reminder of a 50 year or less period of Bristol history. Bearing in mind it is a minority of Bristols population that feels ill at ease with our history, the whole episode will now be further glorified in the future when peeps talk about the "why" of the Colston hall being renamed Bristol Beacon ………….
Are we about to go into a dark period of history where [ like the dark ages] a segment of the timeline of Bristol is taboo... even a few black people are speaking out now about BLM! I guess next bit will be we must not mention the wars … the Vikings...the Normans ...the Romans … THE fact we built a nation in the southern hemisphere by shipping all our unwanted to a rather large sparsely inhabited island … with a massive diversity of wild life which they have preserved and nurtured.
Or we forced numerous displaced "british citizens" [ as did of course countries of Europe ] to take a pilgrimage to the promised land.. now one of the most powerful nations in the world. Lets get rid of all of our controversial history and then we can look back and say wow … how did the world evolve into what it is today …

did anyone see Alesia on BGT advertising her BOOBS?? had a necklace saying BOSOMS LIKE MINE …!

I'm sure the precious Mayor had a major hand in it too.
Just think themselves lucky that they didn't ask for my opinion...…...
Assuming that they will now change the name of Colston Avenue, Colston Street and Colston Girls school ?
A kick in the balls to one of the few people who was a major benefactor to our once great city before the looneys and 'right thinkers' took control.

2000 or more went to BS1 .. stapleton road … barton hill … every house in Bristol should have had one delivered with their electoral reminder but they wouldn't risk that as the people ...the real people of Bristol are proud of their heritage, not out to milk it for self gratification ...and would have had none of it. The riot that took Colstons statue down was only about <20% of people from within 7 miles of city centre the rest came from afar a field as Harrow and Stockton.
Should someone start a Colston Appreciation society I would join ………..

That's pathetic and shocking if true and should be reported as a possible misrepresented vote due to the way the votes were skewed in favour of certain areas.
I'm with you in joining any Colston Appreciation Society, until it gets outlawed of course !
    REES OUT

Edit - BS1 postcodes apparently only cover the city centre and Redcliffe
Stapleton Road, Easton and Barton Hill are BS5 postcodes

Either way, lets hope enough people in Bristol have had enough of this deluded clown of a Mayor when the next mayoral election comes around next year, or will he only send voting papers to Easton and Stapleton ?

I found out, that according to my DNA, I'm only 26% English....I imagine some of my ancestors had wrong doings to them and vice versa...To be honest, I don't really give a crap.......History is history, can't take it away or delete it.............It's what we are and why we are here...If some people don't like it....Tough sh!t!!

there was a TV programme on DNA a few years back .. they started with DNA from a number of countries world wide. They also had DNA from some 1000 years or more ago? At the end of the series it was [ on the people in UK tested ] something like 30% had a marker going back to Africa!!!
my Scots side has via my cousin who was in the Black Watch traced the family back to the 1400's on the English side my cousin traced it back to 1640 … would be interesting to see if I am one of the 30%! I think there is a difference in "a marker" and actually being able to say 2 your DNA has 2 different lines of Swedish descent, 1 scots 1 English etc etc
