Tell yer what I was surprised to see today, I had to go to the pharmacy to pick up my meds, I naturally wore my mask but was surprised to see the chemists and counter staff not wearing theirs, even though they have plastic screens. I thought it was law now, that even employee's had to wear masks?

Hmm, don't know why I thought it, but could have sworn customer facing employees have to wear masks now. Maybe plastic screens are suffice.

The plastic screens negate the requirement is my understanding mate.

Screens aside all staff in retail premises now have to wear masks, as do customers.

    No mask, no entry.

Of course the bell end fraternity will claim medical exemption and there’s no legal requirement to prove it.

It's strange how unsettling all this can get, when there's concern of some people not following some simple rules. I was only thinking the other day, my grandkid has started nursery now, loves it btw, but it suddenly dawned on me new contacts, potentially increased risk. So got into a routine of hugs (but not kisses), without actually saying that, but just part of making it seem a normal routine of demonstrating affection. Suppose there is only so much you can do to protect yourself, without becoming paranoid, but I prefer to know my contacts circle.

Yeah it’s tough mate, the evidence is that under 12’s are rarely greatly affected by the virus, but it doesn’t mean they can’t carry it. So what can you do?

We can only hope that one of the numerous test vaccines actually works, and we can return to a more normal existence, leaving those who think it’s a micro chipped Bill Gates conspiracy to do what they like, and contract the ‘hoax’ at their leisure. There’d be a genuine irony to that tbh.

It's tough, and you have to try and find a balance in it all.

Think I mentioned it on here before, but my old dear was in pieces at the beginning of lockdown when she couldn't see her granddaughter. In the end I had to break that rule because she was on a downwards slope into depression, after not having long become widowed. I did it as safely as I could, her one end of the room, my daughter the other end. But there are some really tough decisions to make in all of this.

The irony will be that it will probably be a vaccine that releases the anti-lockdown crowd from the restrictions in the end.

Yeah but they won’t have the vaccine and social distancing, masks etc will go right in the bin. Icke and QAnon told me it was all a hoax headstones all over the shop.

I think another complete lock-down, will be the tipping point for some people. The actually consequences of it, could be more damaging than what it is protecting us against. Just obey the rules for six months people, avoid the lock-down, then re-evaluate. I had my consultant call me again today, so it's going to mean yet another self isolation at some point, so I can imagine how difficult this is for your mum. Oh and you didn't break the rule, you made an informed decision to protect her sanity.

Sorry brb as don't wish to appear condescending but please be careful.

At my son's school one whole year group has been sent home at the end of last week. Yesterday one boy in his year tested positive but this time ony that class was required to stay home and self isolate. Today he came home feeling unwell and saying at least 5 others in his friendship group feel the same. Guidelines state unless he has 1 of the 3 main symptoms he should continue to go to school. Sore throat, fatique etc is considered ok unless he has a temperature above 38 deg C.

Quite frankly it's extremely poor, boys in his class were sent home last week for coughing and haven't attended school since but we have no information on whether they have been tested or not. Also classes from the same year groups mix for games lessons, at lunchtime in the dining room and also in the playground. The notion that they are in someway isolated by class is nonsense according to my son.

I've taken the decision to keep him home tomorrow and we'll see what develops by Monday.

They won’t fully lockdown again imo mate. They’d put troops on the streets to help maintain adherence to the rules before they’d do that.

i can see shop limits coming back though and if the rate got horrendous, pubs fully closed again.

That's good. I thought I had heard something about troops on the street. Shops defo need to monitor the situation to stop people panic buying.

I only speak for my grandchild, everyone else obviously has their own circumstances. What I mean by that, it's not a must have need to go to nursery, whereas for some parents it may well be. I'm speaking more from increased risk to me, rather than schools or people (kids) in general. I certainly would NOT want to suggest what is the right and wrong things to do regarding schools. Personally, I think children need their education....and with nursery, social interaction, but by saying that, I'm not setting any feelings in reference to it, it's far too big an issue to want to get involved in that chat.

I think Sundays used to be 7pm until 10.30pm licensing hours, that was the shortest day of the week.

It does make you think why people are so annoyed about 10pm closing. When did 11pm come in during the week anyway, am I right in thinking it was earlier than that before then?

Yep and Sunday lunchtime was something like 12 - 2pm.

We'd get in there on the dot and smash 8 pints down before going home for the full roast dinner after a plate of yorkshires from our mums <ok>
