He scares the hell out of me, but so do all our other CBs. If he can eradicate the horrendous blunders from his game, he could be a real asset.
He is too slow to become a permanent fixture in the team but I accept he could be a useful squad option.
Don't get the worry about Vestegaards speed. Stephens and Bednarek are no quicker. All about positioning etc, which I think Vestegaard has been improving on year on year.
I will never understand why people think you need a "pacy" CB. All the best centre backs have are so good because of positioning and ability to read the game, not because theyre quick.
That just it, he is slow to react as well, with costly errrors and he has only had a handful of games where he has been good for the whole match, one good game doesn't change that.
If we want to play a high back line and press high then a pacy CB is essential, yesterday we played deeper hence our CB didn’t get many balls hit over them into the oceans of space
I very much agree with you about the best CBs. Alas, many, many CBs aren't in that category. And as such, unless they play in a defensive-minded team (deep, compact, safety-first etc), a lack of speed will invariably catch them out.
Yeah this. Vesty on the turn is where he's slowest, often takes himself completely out of the game by committing himself. See the pen we gave away at Wolves last season.
Garth noticed the commentator mis-pronounce his name each time, so Garth thought he was a new player and thought he should go in the team for a clean sheet on his debut.
