I wasn't around on Saturday for this game, so I wasn't able to contribute towards this thread. Sorry guys. I will be available for tomorrows game vs the Cobblers.

    Will anyone else be around??

Shall we keep this thread going for ALL match days? It saves the effort for a new thread each game :)

Not the line up I would have chosen.

Im not convinced yet on either Harries and Baldwin and they are 2 of our 3 CB's.

Im very happy with Hare and Tutonda as wing backs.

2 up front is better than 1 so im delighted with this.

McCormick just behind will be interesting to see as not seen him yet.

No Ayunga in the squad which is disappointing.

    Great to see Nicholson back.

I wish at home we play 4 at the back to give us an extra body in midfield to get forward and leave 3 at the back in tough away games.

0-0 at half time. We did score early on but ruled offside. Looked like the right decision. We got better as the half went on. Still look shaky at the back. Tutonda has been brilliant, by far our best player so far. Hanlan and Daly have worked their socks off. Just missing a bit of quality. McCormick has improved as the half progressed. Westbrooke is in and out of the game too much. He needs more of the ball. Grant looks a tad lost to me. Too much space outside the box for Northampton to pass in to. However, despite the negatives above, we are doing ok and as long as we improve those negatives and keep building on the positives above, then we could get 3 points today.

The ref has been shocking though. Whistle happy. Not sure of his fascination about having to use the same ball. The are plenty of balls around the edge of the pitch. The ball goes out of play and rolls far away. Players from both sides try using another ball that is next to them ready to use instead of wasting time chasing after the original ball because there is no ballboys. Yet the ref stops a quick throw and delays the game until the original ball is used. Its pathetic and you can see both sides are frustrated with it.

First time I have been able to see the Rovers this season, very impressed with Hanlan up front and Westbrook and Tutonda good performance a few interesting decisions by the Ref with the placing of the free kicks.
Pleased to see lines not playing as our old boys do come back and haunt us though I hope it was not through injury

Didn’t see it but listened in on Radio Bristol as I was in Thornbury visiting the old folks (can’t get R Bristol out in the wilds of Dursley). Tom Davies is a decent pundit!

Sounds like we were much, much better. Solid defensively, more of a threat up front with 2 strikers and sounds like Tutonda and Hanlan put a real shift in.

    Onwards and upwards! UTG.

I watched the game. I gave my opinion of the 1st half. Here is my take on the 2nd half.

I was critical of Grant in the 1st half but he had a great 2nd half.

Shame Daly went off as I thought his workrate deserved a goal and his replacement Nicholson got himself involved straight away which is great but he needs to improve, which will come in time as he only just recovered from his injury. I think his cameo was just to get some game time.

Westbrooke and McCormick ran things going forward. Long may that continue. First time I've seen McCormick and if he plays like this each game then I will be very happy.

Tutonda was my MotM. He had a brilliant game. Followed closely by Hanlan, whose performance reminded me of Barry Hayles when he first joined us. Tutonda and Hanlan were great and showed that they have way more to come. We have good coaches at the club who can turn them into a higher standard players.

Hare was very unlucky with his chance that hit the bar.

The back 3 will gain confidence from this clean sheet and they grew into the game after we went 2-0 up. They still looked a bit shaky at 1-0 though.

Overall, it was a very good performance, a lot of positives to build on. I would like us to create more and be more clinical but I guess our recent form has made us be more cautious.

Im sure some in the 'Garner out' camp on the other forum will find something to moan about no doubt.

Sounds a very accomplished first half performance so far, could have scored more than the one goal, by all accounts. Lets hope we can keep it going!

I am not keen on this competition. I never want Rovers to lose of course but sooner we are out of this competition the better. I only feel this way as I am dead against prem B teams being involved. The reasons behind them joining, I understand. It to help young English players gain proper experience against experienced pro's. But these B teams are mainly full of foreign youngsters, so it benefits other countries and not just England so its counter productive. All the while, we haven't been able to (until this season) use these games to give our own youngsters some match experience.

I did though, listen to the game last night. No way would I spend a tenner to watch it but free on the radio, fair enough. I just wanted to see how the team gets on, if they build on Saturday's win. I thought we played well - going by the commentary. Game should have been wrapped up before our late penalty. But it wasn't. Not clinical enough yet. But the penalty should have killed the game. However, Leahy had his penalty saved but was gifted an easy tap in on the rebound. Somehow, he missed that too! So many chances to finish the game and would have been a well deserved victory too. But straight after the penalty miss.... Oxford go down the other end and score to send the game into a penalty shoot out, which again we lost!

So the game should have been won, which would have made 2 wins in a row, increasing confidence among the squad, along with 2 good team performances, which included a very youthful team last night. But now that penalty miss by Leahy, followed by losing our clean sheet in the 89th minute and going on to lose our 2nd shoot out of the season, how much would that now dent the confidence of the squad, especially when the confidence have been so low for months.

Saturday will now be very interesting to see how we bounce back following lasts night's disappointment result. We are only facing the team at the top of the league.

Lincoln 2nd in the table looking at the live text we seem to be more than holding our own and finishing the half on a high with 2 attempts on goal in the last couple of minutes

Bristol Bears interest in the title final ended with a defeat by Wasps, I know it's the wrong sport but I am sure there are Gasheads who follow those that play with the oval ball

Looked like a good performance concede an own goal and equalise straight away and then go on to get the winner away from home

Same starting 11 as last weeks win <ok> Maybe BG have his favoured 11 now or that he doesn't like changing a winning team.

They started 1st so to go and get a win away at the leaders is a great achievement, especially as they had won all their league games until today.
