This doesn't make the best reading... https://london.eater.com/2020/8/12/21363633/polpo-london-restaurant-small-plates-russell-norman
Well....im just putting 2+2 together in Storeys fantasy takeover (or is it) and something out of it seems to exist....a London chef from Sunderland...might be/not be him who he's talking about
correct me if I'm wrong but I don't think Storey actually says the restaurant guy is one of his backers does he? He just says he's the person who highlighted to him the opportunity? I may be wrong tho of course it's all nonsense anyway
Think he said he put the idea in his head Youre right tho...I dunno why I'm putting effort into finding info into this pie in the sky!
Is Barnes not saying the EFL are probably the cause of the delay because of the COVID situation and he expects we should hear something within the next couple of weeks?
You mean the restaurant group that went bust two days ago? Not that Storey knows any wealthy backers though.
There is a chain of restaurants in London owned by a bloke from Sunderland.Forgot the name of them now.
When this takeover happens, how long before one of the doom addicts comes out with, 'I have a bad feeling about this bloke' or some such, laying down their marker for a future 'i told you so' Within a week i reckon, after their wealth has been stated/estimated/guessed, but long, long, before they've done remotely near enough to judge their ability. Maybe the first major decision of the new regime, twisted by bugger, work time, they're in.
Mate within 5 minutes of the announcement one of our 'supporters' will be moaning about him/her/them. Can you imagine if a new owner said 'I have listened to the fans and I realise how important it is to develop the academy and to bring more young players through and that is going to be my major goal. This may mean results might not be as great while we give players experience but long term it will be of great benefit to the club.' There would be hell on - the same people who twist about young Diamond or Neil not being in the team will then complain about bad results if we chuck more kids in and results suffer.
If its anything short of a consortium of the most filthy rich billionaire's consisting of the likes of Dell Boy, Jeff Bezos, Bill Gates and some rich Arabs I give them 5 minutes before getting grief. That would then spur months and years of fanbase infighting. If it is a consortium of such people I give them to the end of the first transfer window when fans get upset because we haven't spent 20 million on the likes of Marcus Maddison, and still not bought a striker with pace
Whilst i'd love to see us back in the PL in successive seasons i'd happily take another 3 in league 1 to set the right foundations for the future.
I see what you are saying lads but between you 2, you are quite happy for us not to get back to the premier league for 8 years! If I were a Billionaire coming in to buy the biggest club outside the Premier league I would want a quicker turnaround than that In addition, personally I couldnt stand another season in League 1, never mind 5 in the championship
Believe me I'm not arguing Storey's case, who his backers might be or what wealth they have. But its fair to say that all restaurant chains are struggling and laying off staff. In fact Jamie's went bust before the crisis. Not that any of this matters, Storey is nowhere near SAFC.
I'd have agreed once upon a time. But the PL are killing clubs like us by continually kicking our foundations out from beneath us. What's the point of developing young players if they run off to the likes of Man Utd.
