We shouldn't put too much faith in the rumours blogs are putting out. As Canario says, like Emi, Todd would like to play in the PL, the same as most players. There's nothing wrong with having ambitions but the reality is that he's a City player until an acceptable bid comes in. He has to compete in training like all of the players and until he does, he won't play. Bring on the end of this ridiculous transfer window.
Looks like the Cantwell saga may be over now: https://sportslens.com/todd-cantwell-drops-hint-on-instagram-amid-leeds-united-speculation/317945/ If we get through this window only losing Lewis and Godfrey and gaining £40m and 12 new players, we've done pretty well. I'd still like to see another CB and LB though.
Well, it won't be over; damage has been done. Does his agent think it can be repaired by posting on social media?
No doubt he does; but no doubt Max does too. Ambition to play in a top league is fine but both Todd and Emi have demeaned themselves in the process of trying to further it.
Cantwell would cost any interested club £20m, but he has just said he expects to stay at City this window. good news if true. There also seems to be no interest currently in Max or Emi, so, fingers crossed for the next 5 days. If we get through the protracted window losing only Ben and Jamal of our "fab five" we will have done extremely well, and we have pocketed £40m into the bargain. The main draw back is the inability to move the unwanted players on. I would assume their salaries are too rich for most interested parties, and no Premier teams are likely to want them.
Corners and crosses have been used to very good effect against Norwich going back about 10 years at least. I'm pretty certain that more than 2% of crosses resulted in goals conceded last season . One of our most obvious weaknesses. We probably conceded more goals from our own corners than against the opposition. The Spanish national side are so short and prefer to keep possession that they rarely cross from corners or set pieces anymore.
I have just checked Andrew Omobamidele's height. He is listed at 1.88m which I calculate to be just over 6'2" . He was 18 in June so is still very much a youngster, especially for a defender. would it be too much of a risk to fast track him to the first team squad? The old adage could apply here, if you're good enough you're old enough. If we do recruit another CB, it should only be on loan, a permanent deal would just block his, and Famewo's path to the first team. It is pointless developing players and then doing this.
I believe Cantwell's agent is pushing for a move and it's gone to Cantwell's head a bit. Farke probably isn't too delighted to have 2 of his best talents sold after making their careers but can't really argue against their effectiveness to stop letting in goals. The money raised must more than cover the loss of ticket sales and keep the club very much in the black. If a £20m bid comes in then Cantwell will probably be off Max no less than £30m he's the best talent in my opinion and £25m for Buendia. I hope we hold onto all 3 but I would rather lose Tod than the other 2 , he appears to have a bit of an ego and seeing as he's the only local boy to have been brought through for a while it's disappointing that he wouldn't rather try and get success with the club that gave him his chance on the big stage. He's an Arsenal fan anyway.
Godfrey £25m and Lewis £15m both with add-ons so I think the final total will be £48m if I have understood the deals correctly. Aarons seems to have been completely professional in his reactions to speculation about his future but I don’t think either Buendia or Cantwell have. So, will Farke keep them out of the up and coming match at Rotherham?
Don't forget to start a MDT somebody, as both Duncan and I are on the naughty step for recent abject failures
The RoI staff member who tested positive for Covid 19 has now tested negative on his return to Ireland. That may mean that Idah is now eligible for Rotherham. Here is the quote from the RoI manager I mentioned earlier: "They’re much more stringent (in Ireland). The two-metre rule in Ireland and they would be deemed close contacts to one of our non-footballing staff. If they were in the UK they would have been perfectly entitled to play." The Pinkun has now picked up the story and added this: "The latest set of events would see Idah available to play for the Canaries in their fixture against Rotherham United next Saturday presuming he tested negative when taking his own Covid-19 test." https://www.pinkun.com/norwich-city...-false-coronavirus-positive-reading-1-6878601
My pathetic effort at Luton in Carabao Cup still gives me sleepless nights. I think we need a new broom
