Yesterday's twin assaults on world records in Spain. First up, Ethiopia's Letesenbet Gidey went out looking to best the 5000m, 12 year old record of the wonderful Tirunesh Dibaba, then Uganda's Joshua Cheptegei went after the 15 year record of the brilliant Kenenisa Bekele.

The athletes were brilliant, but the commentators were a pain in the anus.

No idea how you could pick 5 out of all his wickets, but enjoy "5 of the best" from Shane Warne. A true genius with a cricket ball.

Beautiful moment today when Mick Schumacher handed over one of his dad’s helmets to Lewis Hamilton for equaling his record of F1 victories. That family must have been through hell these last few years and the absence of any news on Schumacher’s condition automatically leads one to fear the worst. They didn’t have to do that today, indeed no one was expecting it. Huge gesture and a commendably humble reaction from Hamilton.

It looks as though the Tour de France was lucky to escape the virus. Covid has hit the Giro d'Italia. After tests on Sunday and Monday, officials announced positives for two riders, Steven Kruijswijk of Jumbo-Visma and Michael Matthews of Sunweb. Four staff members from Mitchelton-Scott and one staff member each from Ineos Grenadiers and AG2R La Mondiale also tested positive.

The Jumbo-Visma and Mitchelton-Scott teams have withdrawn from the Giro. More tests will be conducted tomorrow.

Man Utd have historically been one of the most profitable football clubs. Their latest figures show that in the year to June 30th they lost £23.2million. This compares with a profit of £19m in the previous year. These figures are swamped by the players' payroll figures which immediately shows us we are in Lewis Carroll land. More worrying for Man Utd supporters should be their net debt figure of £474million. (£203m a year ago).
As we all know there must be a very good reason why debt is not repaid. Sure Man Utd may have a wonderful Champion's League run but this will make hardly a dent on their debt under the current conditions.
If it's bad for Man Utd think how bad it is for others. Football at the highest level is a giant Ponzi scheme. For years it appeared nothing could stop it. This virus may change that. The problem is a formely great game and our Football League may be a casualty of this.

Couple this with the huge, and we are talking a ridiculously lot of money pouring out the game because of the agent fee's, the golden egg will that the so called great named clubs have had many years holding on to may soon crack wide open. The media don't help by building the fee's up, hype upon hype over a player that's only worth £30million, when the fans want a £60m player because it means they are of a higher quality is just crazy in my opinion.

Another incredible day in the Giro, with less than 30 seconds splitting the front three in the race with three days to go. One of them is a Brit, but long gone are Yates and Thomas, and its Tao Geoghan Hart pushing for Ineos. He looked the best climber today but hes got the Team Sunweb pair to beat on Saturday and then hang on with a time trial on the Sunday.

The last 3 days of the Giro have been just brilliant. Great routes, tough climbs, distance and good finishes. And as you say Nass, it's getting really close as to who can come out on top of the pile come Sunday...

Massive day for cycling yesterday with Tao taking the win of the Giro, the boy from London who was riding as a domestique for Thomas. He comes across as a thoroughly likeable chap, dedicated to his sport but also a massive fan of it. It is well worth hunting out the video from the Time Trial yesterday where Brad Wiggins was in the commentary. Brad was struggling with emotions when Tao was positive on the splits and spoke eloquently (rare i know) about why it meant so much to him.

Then we had an altered stage in the Vuelta, with them not allowed over the border into France. The weather hit and it caused a brilliant stage that caught Roglic out!! It opens the tour up and it also means that a Brit in Hugh Carthy is in second place in the race, with one of my favourites in behind with Dan Martin holding third place. Carapaz took the lead for Ineos (them again) and it sets up the race for a proper battle. I still think Roglic is a strong favourite but the market agrees and he still sits at 8/15.

You can get 11/4 MVG for the World this December. He has been out of form recently as he seems to of took his foot off the gas under lockdown. Come the Worlds he will be back for the big money. This is a great price as he is usually odds on for tournaments.

US world 100m champion Christian Coleman's provisional banning from earlier this year, has now been confirmed. He's out for 2 years. He has not tested positive, but has missed 3 doping tests.

    No Olympics for Coleman.

Not too bad an effort but no winners again so onto this week:

    Rams -3.5
    Bills -4.0
(going against my own team but they have been dire so far. Who'd have though even just last season that i'd be taking Bills -4 against the Patriots. How quickly things change)
    Colts -3.0
    Packers -6.0
    Seahawks -3.0
    Browns -2.5

    £5 pays £330.27

    And College Football:

    Coastal Carolina -3.5
    Oklahoma State -3.5
    Cincinnati -6.5
    Virginia Tech -3.5
    Kansas State +5.5
    Georgia/Kentucky - Over 42.5 total points

    £5 pays 237.05
