I seem to remember someone on here saying that Pukki will never be a number 10 , well he started there again and even scored so Farke must be feeling very smug he made that particular selection.

He doesn't strike me as smug though.

In spite of only being on the pitch for 25 minutes, Mario was only outscored on WhoScored by Hanley (8.0 to 7.9). The next closest was Buendia on 7.3

Surprised by the Hanley rating. He was culpable for their goal.

Pukki's goal was nothing to do with his second striker role. It was a classic Pukki goal of exactly the kind we are familiar with from his playing up front on his own, put through by Emi from a pass by Cantwell.
The whole performance today apart from the first ten minutes and Mario's free kick, was simply awful, disjointed and marred by inept execution, brainlessness and constantly playing to Wycombe's limited strengths. Our main offensive weapon for most of the game was giving the ball to Quintilla to put in a cross, which Wycombe then comfortably headed away. Hugill's only contribution was to mis-time the one opening he got, a header from a set piece.
Please God Stiepermann is fit for Brentford. Go 4:1:4:1 with Skipp as pivot, Rupp further forward and Pukki on his own up front. And instruct Quintilla to check back and recycle the ball infield, with only the occasional cross.

Hanley and Krull didn't communicate well. Just my opinion, but shouldn't TK call out to GH what to do in that situation?

I'm in London today so didn't listen to or watch the game, the point I made was Farke started Pukki behind the main striker in the Stiepermann position and he scored.

How that was nothing to do with his second striker role?

    Only you know.

Very tetchy on here for a side winning games, I'm pretty happy with things thus far but improvements are needed in certain areas .

It was Krul's responsibility really. It looked to me that he shouted then hesitated. Hanley seemed to pull out at the last minute. Just a miscommunication really.

Agree that it was a classic Pukki goal and excellent through ball from Buendia but disagree with the 'inept execution'. It seemed more like a cup match really, with Wycombe up for it. We were not at our best certainly, but that happens and we got the 3 points. I thought the passing was often good and the difference between the two sides. Their defence seemed uncertain about how to deal with Hugill and Pukki, but we didn't make the most of that. Brentford and Bristol City away will be a different challenge and I suspect we'll see a different formation and Stieperman behind Pukki if he's fit.

I have just seen the highlights (missed the 2nd half yesterday) - My initial thought was - that warranted a sending off? Seriously? WTF?

But looking closer, AI appears to push the guy in the face after wriggling out of his legs.

As poor as the ref was at other times, I am not sure I can point the finger at him on that occasion.

""For us, at times, we were out in our passing accuracy and were not able to dominate the game but I'm just pleased we were able to find a way to win." (Daniel Farke)
    "Out in our passing": correct
"Not able to dominate the game" (even enjoying 77% possession): correct
"Just pleased we were able to ... win": correct (little else to be pleased about except Pukki scoring a classic Pukki goal, and Mario's free kick).

Little else? We haven’t found our rhythm yet are in the play-off places and a point from autos...

That means there is room for improvement!

Just watched the highlights and felt we had some decent chances. Vintage Pukki for the first goal, a move which started from a Hanley tackle in our half. Hopefully a sign that Pukki is getting his mojo back. If we'd been a bit more clinical in front of goal we could have been out of sight after 15 minutes. Overall I think we're moving in the right direction.

Their goal was clearly down to a communication error. For me it was Krul's to collect, however he seemed to hesitate. Bit disappointing that there wasn't a really strong 'Man on' shout for Hanley. Gibson could have done better to prevent the ball reaching the area it did.Wycombe had a few chances, but take away the goal and I don't think we struggled defensively, Krul didn't have that busy an afternoon.

Would have liked to see Hugill get in front of his defender on the 2 occasions that Pukki crossed the ball to him. If he had he would have had 2 tap ins. As well as an attacking threat Hugill certainly adds to our ability to defend balls in the air. I feel confident he will get better the more game time he gets.

I think the red card for Idah was harsh. The Wycombe player clearly traps his leg as he tries to move away causing him to stumble and make contact with the Wycombe players face. If VAR was in use I could see that decision being change, may be worth an appeal. For me clever gamesmanship (aka cheating) on the part of the Wycombe player.

Love DF's post match comments when talking about Vrancic "It's not about individual minutes" "team success is the only thing that matters"

Saying "at times, we were out in our passing accuracy" means exactly that - "at times". Our passing accuracy over the whole game was 87%, so we must have done pretty well during the proportion of the game when we weren't "out". We didn't "dominate the game" because we didn't put our chances away (25 shots), not because we weren't on top of the play. Wycombe had 8 shots in the whole game. It's strange that you use statistics when they suit you, Robbie, but ignore them when they don't.

DF: "We started fantastically. We were all over them. A brilliant goal. Fantastic pass from Emi Buendia, top class finish of Teemu Pukki. We just missed to score the second and third and bury this game."

Not going to get into this debate, but when has 31 been the twilight of his career? If he were 34 then I'd accept that statement

Unfortunately you've only quoted part of the sentence. The full sentence was

At 31 he's quiet old for an attacking midfielder and next year he will be 32. If we do get promoted to the PL or stay in this league then yes unless his fitness improves then he's getting too old for the role. At this age he is almost certainly not going to get better in fact he is likely to deteriorate.

    As I said

He has a role to play, but I'm not convinced he has the fitness to play a full game, at present he still has the necessary talent. So bring him on as an impact sub later in the game when his talent has the best opportunity to shine, but that's just my opinion. More importantly it seems to be the way DF want to use him and it's working.

I saw the whole sentence and I get the sentiment, but to say 31 is twilight of their career I don't agree with

So Grant Holt was too old when he played for us? Linford Christie won Olympic gold in the 100 m at Barcelona when 32.<confused>

You are confusing accuracy of pass with pass success (PS). DF was complaining about lack of accuracy. He would hardly complain about a PS rate of 87%; that's the second highest we've achieved so far this season.
