I keep reading that Red Bull want to acquire the IP of the Honda PU to use after 2021.
Silly question but why do Red Bull need to OWN the IP of the Honda PU? Surely they just need to have a licence to use the PU? They are asking for a PU freeze so no development should be needed maybe a bit of reliability mods but why why own the IP?

Owning the IP will mean they can sell supply to other teams. Also, prevents any future challenge and insures they have access to all the development specs. It is about security and income. However if they want to own the IP they should accept the need to develop and not freeze all future development in F1. I don't like Redbull, try to bring commercial standards to sport, thereby they could kill the sport. While I accept all teams have to be selfish, Redbull excel with this trait.

I was thinking that they don't actually need the IP just a licence to use the technology. I can't see Honda giving IP away after all the hundreds of millions they have invested. I think you are right they are trying to make money out of this and starting out with the IP statements so when Honda won't sell them the IP they will winge to FIA and threaten all sorts as normal.
I really don't like the way they run the team. I know it's a business but they have only been in F1 5 minutes and they act like F1 owes them something, They have naff all history and have issued so many threats it's terrible. As for Max, the only reason he still has a licence is because he is the only one actually with a chance to challenge Lewis (not counting Bottas as team orders etc). I still can't get over the lack of punishment for pushing another driver on screen. Having a day with marshalls isn't a punishment! Plus the way they treat Albon, send him out on other tyres to test for max and then wonder why he has no confidence.
Sorry for that rant, I hadn't realised how badly I thought of Red Bull <laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh><laugh>

I would say Charles, OK so his team mate has lost his mojo but somehow he is dragging much better times than Ferrari deserve out of that car. That said you have to give it to Lewis he has been very consistent and doesn't make many mistakes (sorry to Albon and Gasly I think).

That is a hard one. Measured against their team mate I would vote Charles but that is not the only measure. Lewis crossing the line with a puncture was remarkable. Easy to see the battle vs other drivers in the case of Charles, whereas Lewis is out front all the time. I have a lot of admiration for Lewis including the way he handles the media etc but based on the visible racing, Charles would get my vote.

Looking forwards to this GP, not sure if there'll be a battle for the lead, but the track looks like it could give some memorable moments.

If it had been team orders, pretty sure we'd have got the radio transmission.

    And pulling away now.

The speed differential between those with DRS and without in to turm 1 is pretty ridiculous. Could be a few bumps there.
