So looks as though another National Lockdown will be called for the UK next week - as I predicted on here last month.

good to see Boris following Labour Party policy of a month long circuit breaker.
The right wing mob tend to be a bit slow but they get there in the end! :emoticon-0102-bigsm

Even from the far side of the planet, where the round ball game isn't much cared for, we knew of the deeds of Nobby Stiles. For the most part, the uneducated among us usually centre our attention on the magic ball control of the guys who assault the back of the net. So even though we didn't know too much about Nobby and his defensive prowess, we knew he had to be something special.

R.I.P. Norbert "Nobby" Peter Stiles. <rose>

The Nation’s capital leading by example: the ‘R’ number could be as high as 2.86 in London. It might be grim up North but it looks grimmer down South.

All those superspreading illegal raves in the summer months with the asymptomatic youth fighting with the police that broke them up could see their parents and grandparents pushing up the daisies this winter. That is one way of moving up the housing ladder but they will need Sunak to keep printing the money as none of them will have any jobs. Sadiq Khan doing a great job keeping himself employed. Is it really coincidence that most of the places ravaged by the plague are run by Labour?

    stick to the facts QM<laugh>

the r rate “could be” is a pretty poor argument.
The FACTS are that the hospitalisations and infection rate is currently much higher in the north.

It really is pathetic that you can somehow blame Labour for this.
This is all on Boris and his criminally corrupt government. Mistake followed by mistake.
The scientists recommended a circuit breaker a month ago. It was ignored.
I said on here that a lockdown would be inevitable and here we are - we will now be locked down for months.
    Totally avoidable.

No facts available. The unscientific people at SAGE are only managing to do estimates because they are totally incompetent, as they have been for most of this year. Why is the government doing such a bad job when it is “following the science” that is not science but the advice of total incompetents?

Lockdown does not work – absolute FACT as we have already had one that failed; and the parts of the country where the brain washed sheep vote Labour because they cannot think for themselves are the parts of the country suffering the most.

Plenty of facts available at that press conference - you just refuse to believe them.
if you follow the science like I have been then it is quite easy to predict what is going to happen next.

you prefer to take the Boris approach which is to not follow the science at all.

obviously lockdown does work - in the first wave the NHS was not overwhelmed.
That is what we are now aiming for during the second lockdown.

it really is not that difficult to understand.

well there will be damage to the economy, but it is either that or not being able to provide enough healthcare for the country.
the quicker you lock down the shorter the period of lockdown required.

Boris appears to like destroying the economy so has again locked down too late and so the country will have to stay locked down for longer.

I think you are wrong. Boris is timing lockdowns to limit the burden on the NHS but reopening before too much damage has been done to the economy. This cycle will continue until we have a vaccine, its the plan! Besides, its not really a lockdown at all is it...just a closure of pubs and restaurants!

I actually think that Boris has only locked down England because Germany and France have locked down.
He had this data 2 weeks ago and did nothing. Funny he has suddenly changed course since the other countries locked down.

the lockdown is more than just a closure of pubs and restaurants, shops are closed and a stay at home order.

Not a mention of Sunak's Eat out to Help out scheme. It looks like it actually caused the virus to spread. Guess it's easier to blame the plebs and Khan <cheers>

Its mad how much hate politics creates. Lads on here going back and forth cos one side supports the red and the other the blue. When in reality both sides are w@nkers.

Impossible to predict how Labour would have done for the first wave but the clear fact is this - Keir Starmer would have locked the country down for the second wave when the virus was more manageable. It is the constant delays and mistakes made by the government which makes me constantly criticise them on here.

for context I was also the first on here the other day to applaud the fact that Jeremy Corbyn had been suspended by the Labour Party. Both parties are not perfect, I agree with that.

there is one fact that we should all agree on - everyone MUST do their bit, and follow the rules.
Otherwise we will be stuck like this for the foreseeable future.
