Walcott, Chamberlain, Bale and Baird to name a few. For once I actually hope newspapers are Printing rubbish....if they have to print anything about out goings from St Mary's. Hopefully another one can resist the Bright Lights of the Big Smoke. http://www.sportsvibe.co.uk/news/fo...gnature-of-southampton-teen-sensation-11308/?
this seems like lazy journalism and b/s. Papers just think, hey who has a good academy? southampton. There not in the prem, so therefore will sell any player of any worth. who has already bought a saints acadeemy player? spurs and arsenal. I know i'll write a ****e article full of lies so i can get my pay cheque
Saints run an academy to supply us with top class players that would cost us a lot more on the open market and also to provide income when we sell on the ones we don't need. Cash-poor clubs often have to sell players they would rather keep, but I'm sure we are not in that category. If we want to keep Luke I'm sure we will.
If Saints end up selling any other youth players, the only club they should go to is Man U. There they will be looked after by them. Although this is unlikely to happen, because Man U won't pay the high price, that Saints set on the players to ward off any interest. However the London scavangers are all too happy, to stump up the cash! It seems they are trying to get round the Fifa ruling regarding development of home grown talent. Get them in young and claim them as your own home grown players. I guess is that all I want to say is F**k off and stop unsettling other teams youth players. Use your own so called "Fantastic" academies. To me the Football League and Premiership, should look into this continuing pilaging! Of course that won't happen.
We wanted to keep Chamberlain by all accounts, but he wanted to leave. Let's hope Luke has a bit more loyalty to the club that made him what he is today.
Years ago I would have asked London Saints what were the whispers, but it seems we get the rumours every bit as fast as they do, via la Net.
Even if this article is complete bull, it's still getting his name out there and getting him noticed when we'd much prefer to keep our talent on the down-low. Very frustrating.
Gooners have signed Jenkinson as future star full back, so why Luke would go there, I wouldn't know. I've not seen him play; anyone actually seen him live?
to be fair, they would speak highly of him if they are looking after/living with him. I'd be keen to hear if anyone has seen him play first hand as there does seem to be a buzz about him.
1. Look at Southampton Academy list 2. Select highly rated player 3. Select Premiership club 4. Write article, print in bottom-tier newspaper, copy to website that no one has ever heard of 5. Profit Of course Arsenal, Tottenham, Man City, Man Utd, and the rest have looked at Shaw, as well as probably all of our young players. But we have probably looked at most of theirs as well, so what the hell.
Luke Shaw has a first team number, that tells you that he's rated by Saints. I also think NC will be intransigent on future sales..his pride is at stake.
Luke Shaw is a left-back Other academy players with sqaud numbers: 28.Ben Reeves 30.James Ward-Prowse 32.Jack Stephens 34.Luke Shaw 39.Harlee Dean 40.Sam Hoskins
yeah i agree but they don't say the same things about Jordan Turnbull that they say about Luke Shaw - they are honest people
Am I right in thinking that as he is under-17, he can't sign a professional contract yet and therefore he has the right to sign for another club?
he has signed a pre-agreement, meaning as soon as he turns 17 the pro deal kicks in James Ward-Prowse, Calum Chambers, Jordan Turnbull, Chris Johns, Omar Rowe, Harrison Reed & Jake Sinclair have also signed these
