Spread genuine fear throughout Yorkshire, my wife's just reminded me of the fear of him attacking girls at Hull Fair. At least he suffered some attacks in Prison that blinded him in one eye.

On reflection he should have been stopped a long time before he was. The police interviewed him twice, they even traced his place of work to a £5 note found in one of the early victims purse. I guess they never joined the dots, then when the Geordie contacted lead detective Oldfield he was badly wrong footed by someone who turned out to be an alcoholic Makum, who had simply taken his 'information' from the tabloids.

There is some speculation that he had additional information that could have exposed wider issues, and possibly other victims.

Whether that's true or not, we'll probably never know, but I reckon even atheists will be hoping he's stuck in eternal hell.

I suspect the families of some missing at that time, are in some way happy that their loved ones were never associated with his atrocities. Some things are maybe better left unknown.

And ironically Suttcliffe was the only one to give Jimmy Saville a good endorsement. In a way it was a shame Saville didn’t stand trial. Can you imagine your only character witness to be Peter Sutcliffe...

It wasn't a Geordie it was a Mackem, according to voice analysers at the police. The landlord of The Wheelhouse pub at the time was a Mackem. The police turned up there and said someone had contacted them and said he sounded like him. Obviously they were only going through procedures etc but could he just confirm where was on these 6 days? No problem he told them, the pub roster will show that. So he got it out and the first 4 dates were days when he was off...

Pure speculation, but the conspiracy bods reckon he knew about some of the higher up and influential people involved in other crimes.

point taken..Senior heads should have rolled over the Sutcliffe debacle, but of course they didnt, like head of West York' s police Gregson, at the time. I guess he was too well connected to the establishment. Old boy Oldfield got the blame.
