I have no problem with EVERYONE contributing. To do that they can raise taxes so the burden is shared.

Public sector got a near 8 year pay freeze to pay for the banking crisis via austerity measures and now we get this.

Our pensions were ****ed prior to that by Labour so this ain't a dig at just one party.

Taxes being raised means everyone in employment pays a bit more which is the only fair way to share the cost.

Instead the better of and big businesses contribute nothing towards the cost.

Sounds fair to me, unfortunately those in power only think of themselves irrespective of party.

then you should be forcing the private sector to raise wages in line with public sector?

seems to be that if you are a public sector worker that you are the ones who feel shafted, everyone else is in the same boat.

There's a lot of bollocks chatted about public sector pay tbh mate.

In April 2019 my pay rise was £9 per month take home... £2.08 per week!

We were told our next pay rise would make up for it.
I have waited until this month to get that pay rise (18 months).
It is worth £28 per month...£6.46 per week.
I read how brilliant it is that we worked with "the most vulnerable of children" but now I am being told it will be capped?

Millions of public sector workers are in the same position.

My pension is worth £400 per month as it stands...I have been paying in for 24 years.

The ****ers keep attacking it, claiming it is "gold plated".

Our wages and pensions should not be further attacked in my view.

I support other worker fighting for better pay and genuinely feel lucky that I have been able to work.

Taxing big business and the very well off will raise billions yet there is agsin no talk of this.

Finally, all this will do is prevent us from spending which in turn will affect the economy.
It is a moronic selfish decision from a government that was happy to give all MPs an EXTRA £20,000 in the first lockdown to help with any addition administration costs they might incur.

****s is a pretty apt term imho

I agree that everyone should be seeing a fair wage, shame since 2008 public and private sector have been ****ed over. But your pay freeze is no different to that being seen by private sector. Which ultimately will, along with public sector get taxed more and have a smaller pot of cash to spend/even think about saving. I don’t dare look at my pension pot, still a long way before looking at retirement.

taxing amazon, Starbucks and the greedy who put cash offshore will be a better way to spread the burden.

    Bang on imo mate.

This year has taught me a few things tbh. I voted Labour last year so was happy to give up a further 5% of my income. This year I’d be embarrassed to admit how much I’m down yr on yr in terms of gross income. As I self furloughed for a spell, I’ve not taken any profit share etc. And do you know what? I’ve not missed a ****ing bean of it. I know we’ve had less opportunity to spend etc but it’s made me think I would happily pay more beyond 5% to help the ‘levelling up’ that this lot keep on about. Those who earn more, need to pay more imo. It’s as simple as that.

As a percentage of wage, we do pretty well in U.K. on tax rates.

if we paid more, then I would have to adjust, but I would prefer to see big at avoidance and top level tax go up first.

Thing is it started before the official pay freeze as i remember when i worked for the DWP that a fellow worker found a pay slip which was 7 years old and yet after having 6 A marks in his annual appraisal his net pay was a whole £19.00 per month more and this was 2010 at the latest .

I would never suggest that private sector workers get a better or fairer deal mate.

Both are being and have been treated very badly in terms of pay and pensions imo

I really couldn't give a **** about the Pritti Patel bullying stuff but personally have no idea how anyone could think she was a suitable choice for any government position , never mind one of the great Ministerial positions , after her Israel jaunt under Teresa May which was such a breach of all protocols that should have ended her career there and then .

May allowed her to resign as opposed to sacking her, which would have ended her career.

She’s patently unfit for office. Anyone who has to resort to bullying in any form of senior position is in over their head. Simple as that really.
