Would you have him if/when Brucie goes? His record is up there with the best and you don't manage Valencia, Liverpool and Inter Milan if you aint a good manager Valencia 2 la liga titles 1 europa league Liverpool 1 Champions League 1 FA Cup 1 Super Cup 1 Charity Shield Inter 1 Supercopa Italiana 1 World Club Cup Wants to manage in the prem and CAN attract quality players, would be very happy if he was Brucie's replacement and was given money to build his own team for us, he is the man that could take us that bit further, as I said you don't manage 3 of the best sides in Europe if you aint a good manager. Think he has re-searched around 12 or so clubs in the prem who could lose there manager and done work on them incase a position becomes available (cannot remember were I read this but I definitely did) wonder if we were 1 of these clubs.
Would have him like a shot;he has a much better track record tham O'Neill ,Hughes and all of the other usual suspects. My only doubt is whether any of the present squad would be good enough in his eyes-the thought of another upheaval worries me a tad. The real positive would be that this sort of appointment shows that we have ambition and it would make SNQ's task of promoting the club abroad that much easier.
If he did become manager and had a couple of bad results, I'm quites ure that the ROB's would be out in force soon enough...
I'd take him. I remember how brilliant that Valencia side was he built, and for all he gets stick from his Liverpool days, he won the Champions League. Not bad failure like.
For me Gordon, O'Shea, Brown, Sessegnon and I know I might get some stick for this but Gyan aswell I want to see a sunderland team full of fast, strong, big ***** playing fantastic football, a couple more players like Sess in the midfield who are great on the ball, quite nippy and can create things are what we need (and Gyan onform, tht game against England he was awesome, maybe with a new manager someone like Rafa who has won the biggest trophy in european football could get him focused on us again after he comes back)
Valencia he was great. Liverpool he was inconsistent. Inter... He took the best club side in the world and made them ****e.
Not for me. I can't see how he'd ever be able to manage Sunderland when he complained that the treble winning Inter team he inherited from mourinho wasn't strong enough and needed strengthening. The Liverpool team he won the CL with he inherited from Hoilier, the more input Rafa had the worse they got (bar the 2nd place season) they slipped badly as a club with him at the helm and he started to look like a clown. His transfer policy and signings were also atrocious. He was lucky on so many occasions to have a prime Gerrard bailing them out. How about this if Rafa is popular (I shudder to think btw) A man who won a cup with an unfashionable club, took them to a european cup final then went on to manage the national team. After that he went on to win the Dutch league title with another unfashionable side. Step forward Mr Steve McClaren.
I think you lot should concentrate on getting Gary Megson or someone of his class. Maybe try and poach Steve Kean away from Blackburn
I've been reading without posting for a while but this comment made me change that habit. I've noticed that though a lot of the time you do put some very good posts here, contained within a lot of them are thinly veiled digs at those who think Bruce has had his time. Not sure if it's just me but it's kinda getting a bit tiresome now. Yeah, your a Bruce in, give him more time or whatever but I think all of the little digs are not required now, we've moved on from them, to a wait and see what will happen with the results Bruce delivers us. Just my thoughts on it. PS Benitez ain't a bad manager and he's won a fair amount of stuff, but thats with teams that had a very solid core of top level players, for example Liverpool but it all went wrong for when he bought his own players in (at least thats how it seemed to me) and by god he's wasted a lot of money on distinctly average players.
Rafa inherited decent teams and made them better at Valencia and the Scousers but at Inter he seems to have lost it a bit, shades of his final year at Liverpool when they were poor. Not too sure he would be able to take us to that next elusive step up.
Lighten up mate, it was meant as a bit of fun....Regardless of the BIB's and BOB's debate, we can still have a laugh eh!
