Having seen Shilton playing at his peak I would say that he is by far the best GK I have seen live World class in fact but I would say that he was past it at the 1990 World Cup. He is certainly is not a Saint in his private life however and I have seen him get dragged out legless drunk by bouncers in a local nightclub and put into a taxi. Then there was his famous infidelity but the man is still a legend here for his performances during the most successful period of our history. I agree that his comments about Maradona are bitter and classless.
Agree with everything you say. He was our keeper when I first went to watch footie in 1969/70 with the old man. We'd sold Gordon Banks (no less) to Stoke because we had this up and coming kid who was so good. Never seen a keeper come and take crosses so well ... which is incredibly ironic, given what he will always be remembered for. In terms of him having a second wife, it was a hot rumour that his subsequent transfer to Stoke was partly due to his first missus being banged by the legend that was Frank Worthington at the time... who knows?
Wow just been Sent some whatsapp vid of a dead guy in a bin. Apparantly two of the three funeral workers who took a selfie with maradona have been tracked down by the boca ultra and killed. Third ones in critical condition
It appears on twitter it's being dismissed as fake. The body in the bin was supposedly something from month(s) previous. Although they have received death threats and what the three did was very sick indeed.
Maradona's doctor now being investigated for Manslaughter ... https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-latin-america-55123188
Innit. something about poor aftercare or something bloke has literally snorted enough coke to fill an Olympic size swimming pool, but it’s the doctor’s fault. ...
