Or whoever was interviewing him though he was a better fit for the direction the club is going in. Depends on you're glass
he will be on a lot more money then Parkinson he was a manger at a team who has decent money, challenging for promotion, don’t think Donald would pay them wages
And plenty thanked him for the fantastic job he had done stabilising them in a really tough league and for the football they played along the way
https://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/209821-sunderland-manager-gone/ They seem to think he'd be aiming well above us and would be a good appointment for us if given time as part of a project, which is what this is shaping up to be.
Disappointed. But the way I look at it is this: if, when Parky was manager, we’d been told that he was immediately being replaced with Johnson, we’d have been delighted.
If it is to be Johnson, then I'm more intrigued than excited or disappointed. Loads of people on here have been wanting us to have a right go at teams instead of sitting off them, I think he'll give us that. He will definitely need backing in January mind, because we don't have the personnel to do it. Lots of the carthorses out and a few pacy youngsters in. Wouldn't have been my choice, but I'll still sing " Lee Johnson;s Read & White Army" as loud as anyone. Hope Speakman is announced as Academy Head, and not the guy in charge of transfers, as was apparently mentioned by someone on RTG - UpThere, i think. I would hope we have someone with better pedigree for that position. Just have to wait and see.
Don't know much about him (wouldn't want to admit I'm clueless about him) but he sounds like the right kind of appointment. Seems to play the kind of football we like, he's engaging and not too egocentric so will fit into the club structure. Seems an intelligent and thoughtful bloke too, try reading the article on him a few posts ago and imagine Parky saying any of it, can't be done.
Was just thinking that. Just like everyone was underwhelmed with Parkinson's appointment and if this is right and Johnson is appointed, people will not be happy with it and have their own choice for the job - but this seems different this time because of the structure that is being put in place. It also feels a bit different to previous goes at having a DOF. This new lad has actually studied how to get the best of of it and asked around as to who would be best suited rather than the "you'll do" when Di Fanti and Congerton took the job. Hopefully this time it'll show exactly it should be done and we'll all come out the other side smiling. We as fans have to give this guy and this structure a go and get behind it from the start, we might just be surprised!
