Absolutely spot on. It's all about expectations. It's like the Premier League PPV fiasco. If they'd immediately made all games behind closed doors PPV, nobody would bat an eyelid. Like they did with EFL. Instead they gave them for free, so when they brought in PPV, people screamed bloody murder. It's the same here. Johnson appointed on Monday and everyone happy. But dangle Poyet and then a bit of Pearson this morning and people start getting ideas and suddenly Johnson is a loser. At the end of the day - win his first 2 games and he'll have friends here. Lose his first 2 and its trouble. But it would have been exactly the same for Poyet
Absolutely this. With Parkinson it was an immediate “oh **** off” but with this one I am willing to give it some time.
Good luck and I hope it isn't too bad of an experience. Make sure you take a couple of good books, just in case! I would ring ahead and check to see if it is allowed to take your phone in - you've got to wonder about the fate of led crystals, microelectronics and lithium batteries in response to radiation sources!
Good luck to him i’ll back him 100% but fully expect to looking for a new manager again in 6-12 month. Bargain basement stuff with a re-shuffle of shares. Takeover my arse.
If it is Johnson, I’ll support him. But very underwhelming and don’t think he was worth the dancing emoji’s.
As always, we just never know what’s going to happen. He could be our manager for the next 10 years and take us back to the Prem, or he could be sacked in 4 months time. But we will get behind him. What we all were desperate for so long for was the takeover, and a change in structure. We are getting that. New majority owner, and a new structure with a DoF, and now a championship level manager instead of Parky. This is all extremely positive and a long way better than where we were a couple of months ago. KTF.
@Guinness Guzzler, obviously a blatant attention seeker with this illness malarkey but a great lad nonetheless and one of the best posters on here ... ... keep checking in mate and let us know how you're doing
it's ok to be disappointed and sceptical. but anybody saying anything ridiculous like "league one next year then" or "he WILL NOT get us promoted" should be officially banned from smiling if he does. (maybe extreme and not sure how I'd police it)
Apart from the bit about McGeady, I agree with you, because we shouldn't be relying on inconsistent players in their mid 30's. I hope Johnson does play his attacking style, brings in young hungry pacy players and proves to be a great choice.
